Gryphon Oakwood are partnered on an exciting opportunity within the Phoenix, AZ market, to join an industry leading electrical contractor.

\n

The Director of Operations is responsible for leading the operational execution of large-scale electrical construction projects supporting mission-critical data center clients throughout the Phoenix market and surrounding regions. This executive leadership role oversees project operations, field execution, safety, financial performance, workforce planning, and client relationships while ensuring projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

The ideal candidate is a strategic and results-driven leader with extensive experience managing electrical contracting operations for hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical facilities.

Responsibilities:

\n

    \n
  • Lead all operational aspects of electrical data center construction projects from preconstruction through commissioning.
  • \n

  • Develop and execute operational strategies that improve project delivery, productivity, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
  • \n

  • Oversee multiple project teams consisting of Project Executives, Project Managers, Superintendents, and field personnel.
  • \n

  • Establish operational best practices and standardized processes across all projects.
  • \n

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and innovation.
  • \n

  • Ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements.
  • \n

  • Monitor project schedules, manpower utilization, procurement activities, and production metrics.
  • \n

  • Identify operational risks and implement proactive mitigation strategies.
  • \n

  • Support project teams in resolving complex technical and contractual issues.
  • \n

  • Oversee startup, commissioning, and project closeout activities.
  • \n

  • Manage regional operational budgets and financial performance.
  • \n

  • Review project forecasts, labor productivity, cost reports, and profitability metrics.
  • \n

  • Drive margin improvement through effective resource allocation and operational efficiencies.
  • \n

  • Participate in executive financial reviews and strategic planning.
  • \n

  • Ensure accurate forecasting and reporting of project performance.
  • \n

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with hyperscale clients, general contractors, developers, and engineering partners.
  • \n

  • Participate in client presentations, executive meetings, and contract negotiations.
  • \n

  • Support business development efforts by providing operational expertise during proposal development and project pursuits.
  • \n

  • Promote long-term client partnerships through exceptional project delivery.
  • \n

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing operations leaders.
  • \n

Required Qualifications:

\n

    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • \n

  • 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in electrical construction.
  • \n

  • 5+ years in senior operations leadership managing multiple large-scale construction projects.
  • \n

  • Extensive experience delivering electrical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or hyperscale campuses.
  • \n

  • Proven experience managing projects exceeding $50 million in electrical scope.
  • \n

  • Strong understanding of electrical infrastructure, including UPS systems, Generators, Switchgear, etc.
  • \n

  • Demonstrated success leading large teams across multiple concurrent projects.
  • \n
