Job DescriptionJob Description
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About This Role:
As the Director of OSP/ISP Construction, you will lead the physical backbone of Crusoe’s growth, overseeing the strategy and execution of large-scale outside-plant (OSP) and inside-plant (ISP) network infrastructure. You are responsible for the vital fiber routes and data center connectivity that power our AI-optimized compute platform across the United States. This is a high-impact leadership role where you will transform complex route designs and permitting requirements into energized, high-capacity networks, ensuring our greenfield and brownfield sites are interconnected with unrivaled reliability and efficiency.
You will act as the ultimate steward of our telecommunications builds, partnering with Engineering, Network, and Field Operations to deliver infrastructure that aligns with our bold sustainability and performance goals. We are seeking a seasoned construction executive who can navigate the nuances of municipal permitting one hour and drive multi-million dollar capital budget strategies the next. This is a full-time position dedicated to scaling the world’s most advanced, energy-efficient AI cloud infrastructure.
What You’ll Be Working On:
-
Construction Strategy & Vision: Build and execute the comprehensive OSP/ISP strategy to support Crusoe’s rapid data center expansion, aligning project priorities with long-term capacity and infrastructure goals.
-
Full-Lifecycle Project Oversight: Direct the entire project lifecycle—from initial route design and permitting to physical construction and final turnover—ensuring all fiber deployments meet rigorous performance standards.
-
Vendor & Contractor Management: Lead the selection, RFP process, and negotiation for construction partners and ISPs, holding all vendors strictly accountable for safety, cost, and schedule adherence.
-
Cross-Functional Leadership: Partner with Network Engineering, GIS, and Data Center teams to ensure accurate designs, seamless system integration, and high-fidelity documentation across all builds.
-
Capital & Budget Accountability: Own multi-million dollar construction budgets, forecasting expenditures and monitoring cost-to-completion to ensure every project meets its ROI and performance targets.
-
Technical Infrastructure Standards: Direct the installation of conduit, structured cabling, and fiber systems, maintaining a deep working knowledge of DWDM, IP transport, and emerging network technologies.
-
Safety & Compliance Advocacy: Cultivate a "safety-first" field culture by implementing OSHA protocols, conducting rigorous site audits, and ensuring 100% compliance with local and federal construction codes.
-
Risk & Milestone Tracking: Proactively mitigate construction risks and manage change orders to ensure the on-time delivery of mission-critical network paths across diverse geographic regions.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
-
Telecom Leadership Mastery: 10+ years of experience leading telecommunications infrastructure or OSP/ISP construction at a Director or senior management level.
-
Network Build Expertise: Proven track record of building complex fiber networks, conduit systems, and aerial/underground routes specifically for data center environments.
-
Regulatory & Permitting Fluency: Extensive background navigating the complexities of working with municipalities, public utilities, and regional permitting agencies.
-
Advanced Technical Literacy: Comprehensive understanding of OSP/ISP standards, fiber optic systems, and high-level network architecture.
-
Construction Systems Proficiency: Expert-level experience with GIS, CAD, and project management tools such as MS Project or Primavera P6.
-
Strategic Financial Acumen: Demonstrated ability to manage massive capital budgets, forecast expenditures, and drive cost-efficiency in heavy industrial construction.
-
Mandatory Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
Bonus Points:
-
Advanced Professional Certifications: Holding a PMP (Project Management Professional) or RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) certification.
-
Safety & Technical Credentials: Possession of an OSHA 30 certification or specialized FOA fiber certifications.
-
