Director – Category Sourcing (Europe)

Location: Europe (Hybrid)

We are working with a European infrastructure business to appoint a Director of Category Sourcing. This role will lead strategic procurement across critical engineering and capital spend categories within a complex, multi-country environment.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for shaping and delivering category strategy across high-value, mission-critical areas.

The Role

You will be responsible for developing and executing category strategies across areas such as:

• Electrical and Mechanical (M&E)
• Capital projects / CapEx
• Engineering and technical services
• Infrastructure-related connectivity categories

The role requires oversight of complex sourcing programmes, ownership of key supplier relationships and close collaboration with Legal, Engineering and Operational stakeholders to manage commercial risk and deliver value.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement European category strategies aligned to business objectives
• Lead sourcing activity across high-spend, technically complex categories
• Negotiate and manage major supplier agreements, including structured construction frameworks (e.g. FIDIC / NEC)
• Drive procurement performance, governance and continuous improvement initiatives
• Develop total cost of ownership models to support investment decisions
• Partner cross-functionally across operations, facilities and engineering functions
• Lead and develop procurement capability across multiple locations

Experience Required

• 10+ years’ experience in strategic sourcing / procurement
• 5+ years in a senior leadership role
• Experience managing large supplier portfolios (£100m+ annually)
• Strong exposure to capital-intensive or engineering-led environments
• Proven track record negotiating complex commercial contracts

Experience within data centres, infrastructure, utilities, construction, energy or similarly capital-heavy sectors would be advantageous.
