Electrical Applications Engineer - Southeast / Remote
This job opportunity is with a Southeast Regional Market leader of Critical Power Solutions and Services. They offer Mission Critical Power Equipment such as: Busways, UPS, Conduits, Panel Meters / Panel Boards, RPPs, PDUs, etc. They provide companies with options for equipment purchases when multiple sourcing options are needed in the current supply chain crunch. This supports their client's uptime of mission-critical facilities for many of the world's largest organizations and government facilities including Enterprise Data Centers, Colocation Providers and Hyperscale Companies.
We are looking for an Electrical Applications Engineer that will create design documents as the subject matter expert on all of the company's data center electrical products and solutions. Ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in the Mission Critical Data Center Facilities Industry working with Low / Medium Voltage Equipment, Busways, etc. They will be responsible for preparing electrical equipment proposals from inception to approval.
Responsibilities
- Manage projects, create designs and plans, provided and gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary electrical engineering design role for all sizes of data center facility design projects- enterprise data centers, Colocation Providers and for Hyperscale Companies
- Create Conceptual Designs gathered from meetings with the client or from internal stakeholders
- Work with Management to respond to RFPs; Review shop drawings and submittals; Review and respond to RFIs
- Track and communicate project status, technical requirements, and customer information; ensure documentation is properly created, stored, and transferred per quality processes
- Recommend appropriate product/system applications to meet customer requirements and operational objectives
- Create, present, and review electrical schematics, system diagrams, and Electrical one-line drawings, schedules
- Develop clear written and verbal communications to describe technical solutions and product capabilities
- Partner with management and internal departments to identify and reduce commercial, technical, and delivery risks tied to customer and vendor orders
- Provide technical application engineering support for internal stakeholders and external customers
- Perform intermediate to advanced electrical design tasks including development of electrical distribution systems and topologies, infrastructure and equipment layouts and selection / sizing of equipment
- Utilize BIM / Revit software to prepare drawings
- Review and / or prepare book or sheet specifications for electrical systems
- Develop and / or review sequences of operations
- Identify potential project scope changes and aid in development of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines
- Prepare project design and construction documents
Qualifications:
- 4-10+ years experience as a Power Systems Electrical Engineer
- Experience working for MEP / A/E Firms
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Licensed PE / EIT a Plus
- Previous experience using: BIM / Revit
- Experience working on data center / mission critical projects a plus
- Experience with Electrical Power Systems and Equipment - UPS / Uninterruptible Power Supply, Batteries, Switchgear , Busways, Power Distribution Units, Backup Power , Electrical Power, Power Systems , Medium Voltage, etc.
- Experience working on complex data center/mission critical facilities design projects a plus
- Strong understanding of data center infrastructure and mission-critical environments
- Ability to read and comprehend electrical schematics and specifications
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge of organization's business practices and issues faced and contributes to problem resolution of those issues
- Ability to successfully work independently
- Self Starter, self motivated, and should prioritize well
- Effective Communicator – emails, phone and face to face
- Complete assignments accurately and with attention to detail
- Analyze and prepare documents, reports and correspondence
- Ability to work under pressure and meet close deadlines
- Organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.)
- Previous military experience a huge plus! Candidates with backgrounds in Electrical/Mechanical roles in the Navy (Nukes, EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees), Army (Power ), Air Force (Power Production), Generator Techs, Coast Guard, or Army Guard are highly encouraged to apply
