We are seeking a skilled Electrical Commissioning Engineer to support the commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover of electrical power systems for complex industrial and energy projects. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys hands-on field work, solving technical challenges, and ensuring critical electrical systems are safely commissioned and ready for operation.
You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams throughout the commissioning lifecycle while ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and project specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support electrical commissioning, startup, and system turnover activities.
- Perform commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and verification of:
- Medium and Low Voltage (MV/LV) switchgear
- Power transformers
- Generators
- Distribution systems
- Protection relays and associated control systems
- Execute electrical testing including:
- Insulation Resistance (Megger)
- Hi-Pot Testing
- Protection Relay Testing
- Functional Testing
- Equipment Verification
- Support pre-commissioning activities including:
- Loop checks
- Calibration
- Protection system verification
- Review electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, schematics, and control wiring diagrams to verify installation accuracy.
- Validate power system studies including short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis against as-built conditions.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), PSSR, RFSU, and system turnover activities.
- Coordinate with Construction, Controls, Project Management, Operations, and vendor teams throughout commissioning and startup.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues during commissioning.
- Prepare and maintain commissioning documentation including:
- Inspection Test Records (ITRs)
- Test reports
- Redline drawings
- Turnover packages
- Punch lists
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E, IEEE standards, and all project safety requirements.
- Support commissioning of power and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) where applicable.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and standardized commissioning procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance when needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
OR
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology with an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
- Minimum 4 years of electrical engineering experience in one or more of the following:
- Power
- Industrial facilities
- Utilities
- Data centers
- Heavy industrial environments
- Energy infrastructure
- Proven hands-on experience commissioning and starting up electrical power systems.
