Field & Office-Based | Travel Required (~50+ days/year) | Full-Time

MasTec – Power Delivery / Energy Erectors Inc. is seeking a high-caliber Construction Project Manager to serve as the single point of accountability for large-scale electrical infrastructure and utility programs. This role manages complex projects from planning through field execution, commissioning, and owner turnover, with an uncompromising focus on safety, schedule, budget, and operational reliability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Execution & Leadership: Serve as the primary oversight for field construction operations via the Construction Manager, ensuring strict compliance with safety, schedule, quality assurance, and budget.

  • Contract & Scope Management: Oversee full-lifecycle contract administration, managing change order negotiations, RFIs, scope adjustments, and construction means/methods.

  • Resource & Subcontractor Direction: Plan, direct, and optimize multi-craft field labor forces, equipment acquisitions, specialty subcontractors, and vendor relationships to mitigate risk and cost overruns.

  • Financial Control: Maintain rigorous cost accounting, submitting weekly quantity reports, monthly cost-to-complete projections, and utilizing earned value tracking.

  • Live-Environment Coordination: Lead complex construction sequencing within occupied, active, or high-consequence utility environments; carefully coordinate shutdown sequencing, temporary systems, and risk mitigation to guarantee zero unplanned service interruptions.

  • Commissioning & Closeout: Coordinate comprehensive testing, commissioning, startup, and systems closeout / utility turnover activities for high-voltage infrastructure to ensure operational readiness and grid resiliency.

Qualifications

Education & Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field ().

  • OSHA 30 Certification (Required); familiarity with TWICDISA, and HSE culture compliance is highly .

  • Trade backgrounds (e.g., NJATC/JATC apprenticeship or Industrial Electricity coursework) are a significant plus.

Experience & Core Competencies

  • 1–10+ years of project management experience in utility-scale electrical construction, EPC industrial programs, or mission-critical/data center infrastructure.

  • High-Voltage Expertise: Proven experience directing the construction, installation, and commissioning of substations (up to 345 kV), transmission/distribution line infrastructure, transformers, CTs/PTs, relay systems, protection controls, switchgear, and Motor Control Centers (MCC).

  • Grid Modernization: Background in utility grid hardening initiatives, major underground (M.U.G.) directional boring operations, and advanced reliability programs (e.g., TripSaver or utility pole upgrades).

  • Project Controls & Systems: Proficiency in CPM scheduling and estimating. Experience with ProcorePrimavera P6MS Project, ViewPoint, Bluebeam, SAP, e-Builder, or compliance networks like ISNetworld and Avetta is strongly .

Physical & Travel Demands

  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting up to 10–50 lbs.

  • Ability to drive regularly and work up to 14-hour days as required by active field operations.

  • Travel and occasional consecutive days in the field required; exposure to various outdoor weather conditions.
