Job Overview

MICU is seeking an Electrical Designer to support electrical design, drafting, BIM coordination, and construction documentation for industrial, commercial, and high-tech facility projects. This role is responsible for preparing electrical layouts, reviewing drawings, supporting design coordination, and assisting project teams with accurate electrical documentation.

The ideal candidate will have experience with electrical design, Revit, AutoCAD, BIM/VDC coordination, electrical drawings, conduit routing, cable tray layouts, power distribution, lighting, low voltage systems, and construction document preparation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and update electrical design drawings, layouts, and construction documents.
• Create and modify electrical models and drawings using Revit, AutoCAD, or related BIM/VDC software.
• Assist with electrical layouts for power, lighting, grounding, cable tray, conduit, low voltage, and related systems.
• Review architectural, mechanical, structural, and electrical drawings for coordination.
• Support BIM coordination and identify potential design conflicts or constructability issues.
• Prepare electrical details, schedules, diagrams, and shop drawing support documentation.
• Work with engineers, project managers, field teams, and contractors to ensure design accuracy.
• Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
• Assist with material take-offs, quantity checks, and design revisions as needed.
• Maintain accurate project documentation and drawing updates.
• Support project deadlines while ensuring quality, accuracy, and compliance with standards.

Required Qualifications

• Experience in electrical design, drafting, BIM modeling, or related construction documentation.
• Proficiency with Revit and/or AutoCAD.
• Understanding of electrical systems, layouts, symbols, and construction drawings.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical, architectural, and MEP drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation.
• Ability to work with cross-functional project teams.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced construction or project-based environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with industrial, semiconductor, cleanroom, data center, manufacturing, or mission-critical projects.
• Experience with BIM coordination, clash detection, or VDC workflows.
• Knowledge of electrical conduit routing, cable tray, power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, or low voltage systems.
• Experience supporting field installation teams or construction coordination.
• Familiarity with Navisworks, Bluebeam, BIM 360, ACC, or similar project tools.
• Electrical apprenticeship, trade background, engineering/design education, or related technical training.
