Electrical Design Engineer – Critical Power Systems

McKinney / Garland, TX

6–12 Month Contract (Extension/Conversion Potential)

A rapidly growing power infrastructure manufacturer is expanding its engineering team to support increasing demand for custom switchgear, PDUs, UPS systems, and modular power solutions serving data centers, healthcare, and other mission-critical environments.

This is a hands-on design role where your work goes directly from engineering to manufacturing. You'll create production-ready electrical drawing packages, support the shop floor, and help deliver power systems that keep critical facilities running.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design MV and LV power distribution systems from customer specifications and one-line diagrams

• Produce schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, BOMs, and interconnection drawings

• Perform load calculations, short circuit analysis, and protection coordination studies

• Design switchgear, switchboards, ATS configurations, MCCs, and UPS integration schemes

• Support manufacturing, design reviews, FAT planning, and engineering change management

Requirements:

• 5+ years of electrical design experience with switchgear, power distribution, or critical power equipment

• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or SolidWorks Electrical

• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA, UL, ANSI, and IEEE standards

• Experience with ETAP, SKM, EasyPower, or similar power systems software

• Ability to translate customer requirements into manufacturable designs

• Data center or mission-critical infrastructure experience

• Medium-voltage switchgear design experience (5kV–38kV)

• Manufacturing/OEM environment experience

• PE or EIT credentials
