Job Profile: Electrical Design Engineer

Job Summary:

An Electrical Design Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing electrical systems, components, and circuits that are used for the Data Centers’ Power Generator Sets, E-houses etc. They ensure that all electrical designs meet required standards, functionality, and safety protocols. The role requires close collaboration with mechanical engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to deliver cost-effective, reliable, and efficient electrical designs.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Develop electrical designs, schematics, and layouts using CAD software AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or OrCAD for power distribution systems, control systems, and electronic components.
  • Component Selection: Select appropriate electrical components such as breakers, switches, transformers, lights, cables, etc., ensuring compatibility and compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams mechanical engineers, manufacturing engineers and product managers to align electrical designs with overall project goals.
  • Prototyping: Develop prototypes of electrical systems and components for validation and testing.
  • Compliance & Standards: Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards and safety regulations (e.g., UL, CE, IEC, NEC, IEEE).
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed electrical schematics, technical drawings, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing and assembly.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting: Test and validate electrical systems and components to ensure performance and reliability. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues during the testing phase.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improving existing electrical designs and processes for better performance, cost savings, and efficiency.
  • Cost Analysis: Evaluate designs for cost, manufacturability, and efficiency while ensuring optimal material usage.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • 3+ years of experience in electrical design or product development.
    • Hands-on experience with CAD tools for electrical design (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN).
    • Experience with electrical testing, simulation, and prototyping.
    • Knowledge of circuit design, power distribution, and control systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in electrical CAD software (AutoCAD Electrical, OrCAD, or similar).
    • Strong understanding of electrical principles, including power systems, control systems, and electronics.
    • Familiarity with safety standards and compliance (e.g., UL, CE, IEC, NEC).
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Attention to detail and precision in design.
    • Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.

Key Tools & Software:

  • Electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, OrCAD)
  • Multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment

Work Environment:

  • Office-based design work with occasional visits to manufacturing facilities, testing labs, or client sites.
  • Interaction with manufacturing teams to ensure proper implementation of designs.
  • Some travel may be required depending on project needs.
