Responsibilities

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer with a strong background in data center design to join our data center procurement team, which supports our growing development pipeline. This team is responsible for establishing equipment standards, evaluating long-lead vendors, and driving technical decision-making that supports OFCI procurement strategies. This individual will play a key role in the design, technical evaluation, and delivery of complex, mission-critical facilities and should have deep experience in high-reliability power systems, redundancy, and large-scale electrical infrastructure. This position will be based full-time at our Hudson Yards headquarters.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate electrical design for data center projects from concept through construction, ensuring alignment with procurement strategy and long-lead equipment requirements.
  • Develop and review power system layouts, single-line diagrams, load calculations, and technical specifications for OFCI equipment such as switchgear, UPS, generators, and PDUs.
  • Support vendor prequalification, bid evaluation, and equipment standardization across the platform.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet project performance goals, code requirements, and industry standards (NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E).
  • Collaborate closely with internal project managers, procurement leads, mechanical engineers, construction teams, and external consultants to ensure coordinated technical solutions.
  • Evaluate utility service requirements and coordinate with local utility providers for medium- and high-voltage service connections.
  • Review and approve submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings during construction.
  • Support commissioning activities and validate system performance, redundancy, and reliability.
  • Participate in value engineering, risk assessments, and constructability reviews.
  • Stay current on emerging technologies, sustainable energy solutions, high-density cooling/power trends, and innovations in electrical equipment manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; PE license .
  • 5- 10 years of professional experience in electrical design, with a focus on data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale commercial infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of power distribution systems, UPS, generators, grounding, lighting, and fire alarm systems.
  • Familiarity with power modeling and load analysis software (e.g., SKM, ETAP, Revit MEP).
  • Strong technical writing, organization, and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
