Summary
The Electrical Engineer will support the construction of a large-scale hyperscale data center. Embedded onsite with the GC team, you'll own the technical electrical scope, reviewing drawings, overseeing subcontractor installations, and driving commissioning activities for critical power and cooling infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and specifications to verify alignment with client requirements and NEC/NFPA standards
- Oversee subcontractor electrical installations including MV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS systems, PDUs, busway, generators, and associated controls
- Manage RFIs, material submittals, and shop drawing reviews for electrical scopes
- Conduct daily site inspections to verify installation quality, code compliance, and adherence to electrical specifications
- Support and lead commissioning activities including functional testing, system start-up, and SAT/IST for critical power and cooling infrastructure
- Coordinate with design engineers, MEP superintendents, and subcontractors to resolve field conflicts and implement technical solutions
- Maintain as-built documentation, technical change logs, and project progress reports
- Develop and execute electrical inspection checklists as part of the GC's QA/QC program
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of experience in hyperscale data center, mission-critical, or large-scale industrial electrical construction
- Working knowledge of medium and low voltage power distribution, emergency power systems (generators/ATS), and critical power (UPS/PDU)
- Familiarity with commissioning processes including pre-functional checklists, functional performance testing, IST, and turnover documentation
- Strong understanding of NEC, NFPA 70E, and applicable building codes and standards
- Proficiency in construction management platforms (Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud) and CAD/Bluebeam
- OSHA 30 , NFPA 70E certification a plus
