Powerstaff is recruiting for experienced Electrical Estimators on behalf of two well-established electrical contractors located in Northern California -Sacramento and Brentwood. These roles are site based not remote.

These contractors deliver large-scale electrical packages across the United States, with a strong focus on mission critical, data center, and commercial construction projects.

This is an excellent opportunity to join high-performing preconstruction teams where you'll play a key role in securing complex, high-value projects from tender through to project award.

The Opportunity
As an Electrical Estimator, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates while supporting every stage of the preconstruction process. Working closely with project managers, vendors, subcontractors, and leadership teams, you'll help deliver winning bids on some of the country's most exciting electrical projects.
Key Responsibilities

• Review tender drawings, specifications, and contract documents to determine project scope, risks, and requirements.
• Prepare detailed electrical estimates, quantity takeoffs, and pricing for commercial and industrial projects.
• Solicit and evaluate pricing from vendors and subcontractors.
• Compare inclusions, exclusions, and scope to ensure compliant and competitive bids.
• Complete accurate quantity takeoffs using estimating software.
• Support bid strategy, tender submissions, and internal estimate reviews.
• Prepare estimate summaries, budgets, and supporting documentation for management approval.
• Assist with the transition from estimating to project delivery following successful awards.
• Maintain professional communication with clients throughout the pre-award and post-bid process.
• Participate in post-bid reviews to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.

About You
You'll have a solid understanding of electrical construction, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple tenders while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Ideally, you'll possess:

• 3+ years' experience in electrical estimating or preconstruction.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and industrial electrical systems.
• The ability to interpret construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
• Experience estimating data center or mission critical projects (highly regarded).
• Proficiency with estimating and quantity takeoff software such as Accubid, Bluebeam, or similar.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with construction documentation.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team.
• Current authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
