Electrical Field Service Technician (NETA II / III / IV)

We're hiring experienced NETA II, III, and IV Field Service Technicians to support commercial and industrial power systems throughout the Houston region. This role is ideal for electrical testing professionals who enjoy a combination of field work and technical troubleshooting while supporting mission-critical electrical infrastructure.

Technicians perform acceptance testing, maintenance testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical power distribution equipment in accordance with NETA standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform acceptance and maintenance testing on electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Test, troubleshoot, inspect, commission, and maintain:
    • Switchgear
    • Low, Medium & High Voltage Circuit Breakers
    • Power Transformers
    • Instrument Transformers (CTs/PTs)
    • Protective Relays
    • Motor Control Centers (MCCs)
    • Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)
    • Power Cables
    • Busway and Bus Duct Systems
    • Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs)
  • Perform electrical testing including:
    • Insulation Resistance (Megger)
    • Transformer Turns Ratio (TTR)
    • Power Factor
    • Doble Testing
    • Winding Resistance
    • Primary & Secondary Injection
    • Protective Relay Testing
    • Cable Testing (VLF, Tan Delta, Hi-Pot)
    • Breaker Timing & Contact Resistance
    • Ground Fault & Continuity Testing
    • Power Quality Analysis
  • Diagnose equipment issues, recommend repairs, and support recommissioning efforts.
  • Complete accurate field reports and testing documentation.
  • Maintain safe work practices while following OSHA, NFPA 70E, LOTO, and company safety procedures.
  • Deliver professional customer service while working independently and as part of a field service team.

Qualifications

  • Current NETA Level II, III, or IV Certification required.
  • Experience performing electrical apparatus testing on low and medium-voltage power distribution equipment.
  • Hands-on experience testing switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, protective relays, CTs/PTs, and power cables.
  • Experience with electrical testing equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard, Fluke, or equivalent.
  • Ability to read one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, and protection/control drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Willingness to travel throughout the region and work occasional overtime or weekends as project demands require.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Electrical Technology or related field.
  • Military electrical power generation or power distribution experience.
  • PowerDB experience.
  • Experience working in industrial manufacturing, utilities, petrochemical, data center, renewable energy, or mission-critical facilities.
