Electrical Shift Engineer

Position: Electrical Shift Engineer Location: 30 Gracechurch Street, London, EC3V 0UF Salary: £50,500 per annum Shift Pattern: Continental Shift (Days and Nights)

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Shift Engineer to join their on-site team at 30 Gracechurch Street, London. This is a permanent role working on a continental shift pattern, responsible for maintaining and operating all electrical and mechanical systems within a critical commercial environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building services engineering, with a focus on electrical systems, and the ability to work independently as part of a dedicated on-site team.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on all electrical and mechanical building services equipment.

Ensure all critical systems (including LV distribution, UPS, generators, lighting, and emergency systems) are fully operational and maintained to the highest standard.

Respond to reactive and emergency breakdowns, diagnosing faults efficiently and carrying out repairs to minimise downtime.

Monitor and operate the Building Management System (BMS) to maintain environmental conditions and optimise system performance.

Perform regular inspections of plant areas and record findings in line with company and client standards.

Assist in the supervision and coordination of subcontractors, ensuring all works are completed safely and to specification.

Operate and manage Permit to Work systems in accordance with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety, and client procedures.

Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities using the site's Computer-Based Maintenance System (CBMS).

Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and site procedures.

Participate in site meetings and provide technical support to both BGIS management and the client.

Support energy efficiency initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement of site operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

Recognised Electrical qualifications (e.g. NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations or similar).

Proven experience working within a commercial or critical environment (e.g. data centre, financial institution, or multi-storey office building).

Basic mechanical knowledge (AHUs, FCUs, pumps, etc.) advantageous.

Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively on a continental shift pattern, including nights and weekends
