The Electrical Test Technician 1 is responsible for testing and troubleshooting Power Distribution Equipment and related components while ensuring quality workmanship, reliability, and safety in all Test areas. This role plays a key part in maintaining product integrity and supporting manufacturing needs across departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Test and verify the performance/function of power distribution equipment and assemblies using multi-meters, current meters, HI-POT testers, phase rotation meters, and other testing equipment.
- Perform factory testing on PDUs, Switchgear, STS, Databar product line, and Injection Testing.
- Read blueprints, schematics, diagrams, and technical orders to determine assembly/testing methods.
- Follow inspection and testing procedures to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Record accurate data during testing using programs such as Modbus Poll, Adobe Acrobat, Excel, and other specialized software.
- Inspect all electrical equipment entering Test areas.
- Complete technical reports and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs).
- Install and verify revolving cable layouts.
- Perform minor repairs and escalate complex test issues to the Supervisor.
- Collaborate with other departments to support production requirements.
- Report defective materials or questionable conditions to the Test Supervisor.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment while adhering to company safety protocols.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
RequirementsEducation & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED with 1–2 years of experience testing low-voltage distribution systems.
- : Two-year technical degree in electronics, engineering, or related field.
- Alternative: Military training/experience in electronics, electricity, or engineering.
Technical Knowledge
- Familiarity with L/V Switchgear, PDUs, Remote Power Panels, Static Switches, and Powered Busway Systems.
- Data Center or mission-critical systems experience is a plus.
- Understanding of NFPA 70E, NEC, UL, and IEC safety/electrical codes.
- Knowledge of 3-Phase Power, DC Power, AC/DC power distribution, and electrical power .
- Troubleshooting ability down to circuit board & component level.
- Skilled with hand tools, test equipment, and schematic interpretation.
