This opportunity is working directly with a leading mission-critical data center developer / wholesaler / colo provider. This firm provides data center solutions custom-fit to the requirements of their client's mission-critical operational facilities. We are looking for an experienced Data Center Electrician to support a critical data center. The Data Center Electrician will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems in a data center, including UPS systems, PDUs, generators, and switchgear, while ensuring safety, compliance, and minimal downtime of the operation of the critical facility / physical infrastructure systems in accordance with company's policies and procedures. The Data Center is a 7x24x365 a year operation. The Data Center Electrician position requires experience in industrial or data center electrical systems, strong troubleshooting skills, and knowledge of monitoring tools like BMS or EPMS. Candidates must hold a journeyman license (master electrician ) and be capable of working in high-voltage environments with occasional on-call responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, Inspect and Run Diagnostics, Conduct Preventive Maintenance and Emergency Repairs on Critical Facilities Equipment when needed within the Data Center as specified and on schedule
  • Maintain accurate records of all electrical work, inspections, and maintenance activities performed within the critical facility
  • Provide detailed reports on incidents, system status, and power capacity planning to management
  • Install, maintain, and monitor electrical distribution systems to ensure reliable power for the data center
  • Perform load balancing on circuits and ensure compliance with PUE's ( power usage effectiveness)
  • Carry out electrical work safely and ensure that the electrical systems are up to code and compliant with industry standards
  • Act in accordance of all electrical safety standards and data center policies, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and relevant electrical codes
  • Assist with the installation and commissioning of any new mechanical / electrical equipment being added to the data center: power panels, PDUs, UPS, Generators, Transformers, CRAC, CRAY, Chillers, etc
  • Provide support to the data center facility operations teams during any new adds, modifications, retrofits on cabinets, new racks or any reconfiguration by ensuring power connectivity and managing electrical load requirements
  • Test and monitor UPS systems, backup generators, and other critical power infrastructure to ensure reliability
  • Sync with the facilities team on regular load testing and PM (preventive maintenance) for emergency power systems
  • Utilize Building Management Systems (BMS) or Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) to track power usage, detect anomalies, and support troubleshooting efforts
  • Be on call to respond to any alarms / alerts promptly to prevent or minimize service interruptions
  • Ensures that operational, maintenance and emergency methods of procedure (MOP's and SOP's) are developed and strictly adhered to.
  • Assist with CMMS database management.

Requirements

  • 3 years + of relevant experience with installation and commissioning of power / electrical equipment including generators, critical and essential PDU's, UPS, switchgear, DC Power Systems, and building monitoring/control systems
  • TDLR Valid Journeyman Electrician's License a must
  • Data Center Operations Experience
  • OSHA / NFPA 70E certification a plus
  • Must have the technical knowledge and practical experience of operating, troubleshooting and maintenance of Mission Critical Electrical Support Systems, Power Monitoring and BMS
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints / one-lines, and technical documentation
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, with the ability to respond quickly and effectively
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Teams, etc
  • Experience working with various computer systems and applications
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Previous experience in the Military / Military veterans in all branches that have experience with Electrical / Mechanical is a huge plus (Navy nukes- EMN, ETN, MMNs, Seabees, Army - Power , Air Force – Power Production, Generator Techs, Maritime, Coast Guard, etc.)
