PLC TERMINATION ELECTRICIAN – DATA CENTER
Position Summary
We are seeking experienced PLC Termination Electricians to support electrical and controls installations on large-scale data center projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience terminating PLC I/O, control panels, instrumentation, and low-voltage control wiring while working from electrical drawings, schematics, and termination schedules.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform PLC I/O terminations inside control panels and electrical cabinets.
- Terminate control wiring, terminal blocks, relays, sensors, and instrumentation.
- Install and terminate 24VDC control circuits and PLC input/output wiring.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and I/O schedules.
- Perform point-to-point wiring and verify proper wire identification and termination.
- Install, label, and terminate control cables according to project specifications.
- Perform continuity checks and verify wiring before energization.
- Assist with PLC panel installation, startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Work with digital and analog I/O, including 4–20 mA instrumentation when applicable.
- Terminate wiring associated with VFDs, motor controls, contactors, relays, and control devices.
- Identify and troubleshoot wiring issues, incorrect terminations, and control-circuit problems.
- Use electrical test equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers.
- Maintain accurate wire labeling and documentation.
- Coordinate with electricians, controls technicians, engineers, and project supervisors.
- Follow all data center safety requirements, company policies, and OSHA/NEC standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow proper LOTO procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Commercial, industrial, or data center electrical experience.
- Hands-on experience with PLC panel wiring and terminations.
- Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with terminal blocks, control wiring, and PLC I/O.
- Knowledge of 24VDC control circuits.
- Ability to identify wires using drawings, wire numbers, and termination schedules.
- Experience performing continuity and point-to-point checks.
- Ability to use basic electrical testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment.
Experience
- Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Siemens, or Schneider PLC systems.
- Data center construction experience.
- Experience with control panels and MCCs.
- VFD installation and termination experience.
- Instrumentation and 4–20 mA circuits.
- PLC commissioning and startup experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Electrical apprenticeship or journeyman-level training.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and work for extended periods.
- Ability to work from ladders, lifts, and elevated platforms when required.
- Ability to lift and carry electrical materials and tools.
- Ability to work in active construction and data center environments.
- Must be able to wear required PPE and follow site-specific safety requirements.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented electrician with strong PLC termination and control-panel experience who can accurately follow drawings, identify wiring, complete terminations, perform testing, and work safely as part of a data center electrical team.
