A growing financial intelligence provider is looking for a scoop-driven Reporter to break digital infrastructure M&A and project financing deals across the EMEA market.
You will be joining an editorial team which produces primary sourced deal intelligence months ahead of the competition. This team develops trusted relationships with senior leaders and dealmakers, regularly breaking news on market-defining transactions. They provide actionable intelligence insights to their audience of investors, advisors and C-suite executives.
Reporters here are constantly talking to the market, pro-actively organising meetings to obtain off-diary insights on the stages of M&A and project financing deals. You will use your existing source cultivation skillset to build a world class contact book and develop deep sector expertise, following a thorough training process. This is an organisation with a track record of producing high-performing scoop reporters, making it a natural next step for dynamic reporters.
This is a London based role with regular in-person meetings across key European financial centres
Key responsibilities
- Regularly break off-diary news items on M&A and project financing transactions, to deliver daily intelligence on the EMEA sector.
- Proactively cultivate a strong book of contacts across the investment banks, PE firms, corporates, and advisers, using both existing sources and outreach to source fresh contacts, and maintain relationships with those contacts.
- Work collaboratively with other reporters to break off-diary stories, and more broadly across the organisation to support its continued growth.
Key requirements
- Experienced reporting within B2B financial or business journalism and ideally experience reporting on M&A dealflow and infrastructure / real estate financing processes, or at least strong understanding of
- A track record of breaking off-diary news through a self-built source network of and experience managing those senior relation
- Excellent writing skills, meaning the ability to write concisely & accurately on market critical stories, conveying core insights to an expert audience
- A second European is helpful given the beat, but more important is your core skillset.
