General Purpose of the Position

The purpose of this position is to support the installation and commissioning of power monitoring devices related to the upkeep and maintenance of electrical power monitoring systems.
This individual will:

  • Find creative ways to minimize operational costs.

  • Collaborate with team members to improve efficiency.

  • Work cross-functionally with Data Center Operations, App-Dev, Networking, Orders, Sales, Accounting, and Construction teams as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Audit electrical engineering drawings.

  • Develop and implement new ideas and solutions to improve operational efficiency, including operating procedures, training documents, and EPMS graphics/tools.

  • Install, configure, and maintain electrical power monitoring systems and databases (LDC, PME, DCE, etc.).

  • Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair power monitoring devices.

  • Provide remote support to external sites as needed.

  • Travel and assist with planning and oversight of EPMS deployments at client site expansions.

  • Assist with project management of special projects and installations from start to finish.

  • Support the development and integration of EPMS and BMS systems with the Environmental Controls team.

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of load balancing activities.

Other Duties

  • Provide assistance to customers when assigned.

  • Participate in policy and procedure development and maintenance.

  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain work order documentation and utilization reports.

  • Communicate and coordinate with external teams to complete projects or tasks.

Required Job Skills

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

  • Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work in a data center environment.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to provide practical solutions.

  • Problem-solving ability with good initiative and sound judgment.

  • Ability to make independent decisions with minimal supervision.

  • Understanding of electrical systems in data center environments, including:

    • Transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, DC power systems, ATS/STS units, PDU units, air handling units, cooling towers, and fire suppression systems.

  • Strong background in mechanical, electrical, or computer science theory.

  • Understanding of safety requirements for operating a multi-megawatt facility.

  • Experience interpreting wiring diagrams, schematics, and electrical drawings.

  • Familiarity with communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, SNMP, etc.).

Computer Equipment and Software

  • Microsoft Suite: Proficiency with Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Education and Experience

  • Certification: Any certifications relevant to the job field.

  • Education: College degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (equivalent education or training may be considered).

  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience troubleshooting electrical and/or communications equipment.

Physical Demands

  • Local, domestic, and international travel may be required at client’s request.

  • The data center operates 24/7; position requires working effectively under pressure and managing multiple projects simultaneously.

  • May require extended hours during peak work periods.

  • Frequent communication and collaboration required with team members.

  • Work primarily performed in an office setting.

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb ladders, use hands, operate a computer, and adjust visual focus.

  • Must be able to:

    • Climb ladders and bend.

    • Frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

    • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

  • If working in the field or warehouse, wearing approved Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
