We are recruiting on behalf of a leading facilities and critical environment services provider for an Engineering Technical Manager to oversee two prestigious critical sites — 4 days per week in South London/Surrey and 1 day per week in West London (Heathrow area).

This opportunity offers an excellent blend of strategic oversight and hands-on technical leadership within a mission-critical environment. The ideal candidate will live within a commutable distance of both sites.

About the Role

This role is suited exclusively to candidates with a proven background in critical environments — such as data centres, banking, trading floors, or high-security 24/7 operations.

You’ll take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation of all engineering services, including HV/LV systems, UPS, BMS, and associated critical plant, while managing and developing a team of engineers and coordinating with specialist subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support day staff and shift engineers across two key client sites.

• Oversee PPM schedules, reactive maintenance, and fault escalation for critical systems.

• Take full operational ownership of HV/LV infrastructure, UPS, and BMS systems.

• Manage contractor performance, compliance, and safety standards.

• Prepare and maintain reports, site audits, O&M documentation, logbooks, and permits.

• Support project works, system upgrades, and shutdown activities as required.

• Maintain excellent client relationships through clear communication and reliability.

Flexibility & Overtime

This position includes enhanced overtime pay for involvement in HV shutdowns, weekend interventions, and project-based activities.

A flexible, proactive approach with the ability to attend site at short notice is expected.

Candidate Profile

• Proven experience in a critical environment (Data Centre or Financial Services essential).

• Strong people management and leadership skills.

• Recognised Electrical or Mechanical qualification (Apprenticeship / ONC / BTEC or equivalent).

• HV Authorised Person (or able to achieve quickly).

• Excellent organisational, communication, and reporting skills.

• Calm, methodical, and confident under pressure.

Package & Benefits

• £77,000 – £79,000 per annum + paid overtime

• Potential travel allowance between sites

• Enhanced overtime payments

• Company pension

• Private healthcare
