About This Role:

As an Engineering Manager on the Managed AI team, you will lead and scale a high-caliber squad of engineers building Crusoe’s next- platform for the full Large Model (LLM) lifecycle. This role is a unique blend of technical stewardship and people leadership, requiring you to guide the design of highly scalable, fault-tolerant infrastructure that powers AI for customers globally. You will be central to a strategically vital, fast-growing organization, shaping the engineering roadmap and driving execution in a mission-critical domain.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned leader who thrives in high-growth environments and can bridge the gap between complex AI infrastructure and seamless product delivery. This is a full-time, on-site role based in our San Francisco, CA, or Sunnyvale, CA offices, offering you the opportunity to foster a culture of technical excellence and collaborative innovation at the heart of the AI revolution.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Team Leadership & Strategy: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of elite software engineers, setting clear goals, driving accountability, and cultivating a high-performance culture grounded in technical excellence.

  • AI Roadmap Execution: Partner closely with executive leadership to define and execute the AI infrastructure roadmap, ensuring our platform evolves to meet the rapidly shifting needs of the market.

  • Architectural Oversight: Oversee the development of core AI services, including fault-tolerant task queues, model management systems, and cost-aware scheduling designed for massive scale.

  • High-Scale System Delivery: Ensure the delivery of robust systems capable of handling millions of API requests per second across a variety of workloads, from model training to agentic execution.

  • Cross-Functional Influence: Work as a key collaborator with Product, Infrastructure, and Go-To-Market (GTM) stakeholders to align engineering efforts with customer adoption and business growth.

  • Process Evolution: Promote knowledge sharing and technical mentorship while evolving engineering processes to maintain velocity as the organization scales.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Proven Engineering Leadership: 5+ years of experience managing and leading high-performing engineering teams, with a track record of hiring, developing, and retaining top-tier talent.

  • Strategic Navigational Skills: Demonstrated ability to lead teams through ambiguity and align stakeholders on complex technical goals in a fast-paced environment.

  • Deep Technical Foundations: Hands-on experience with distributed and concurrent systems, cloud- environments, container orchestration, and service-oriented architectures (SOA).

  • Product & Delivery Focus: A strong sense of ownership over the entire lifecycle of a deliverable, from initial design through to production and maintenance.

  • Collaborative Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to prioritize clarity, context, and customer impact in all technical discussions.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Bonus Points:

  • AI Infrastructure Expertise: Familiarity with CPU/GPU performance optimization, inference frameworks, or the internal mechanics of LLM systems.

  • Modern Proficiency: Professional experience or proficiency in Python, Go, or Rust for large-scale systems.

  • Advanced Tooling: Deep experience with Kubernetes, gRPC, and modern observability stacks.

  • Open-Source Engagement: Familiarity with or contributions to open-source AI ecosystems such as vLLM, Hugging Face, or Triton.

  • Startup Agility: Experience navigating the unique challenges of a rapid-growth startup or a fast-moving technology organization.

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $237,600 - $288,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
