About the Role
The Data Center Sales Engineer will develop estimation tools and manage cost estimates for projects using Tate products, as well as for new products through prototyping and manufacturing analysis. This role coordinates closely with the sales team and external customers to clarify design requirements, create product solutions, develop initial bills of material with cost data, and communicate the overall scope of work to sales representatives.
What You’ll Do
- Facilitate communication among sales teams, clients, and engineers to ensure clear understanding of specifications, budgets, and deadlines.
- Evaluate construction drawings and specifications to recommend products that meet project requirements.
- Interpret project needs from Sales Managers and communicate feasibility, lead times, and challenges.
- Create quotes for new designs and maintain design history throughout the quoting process.
- Provide application engineering support for existing and future products targeting the Mission Critical/Data Center space and containment solutions.
- Stay updated on trends, technologies, materials, and best practices to improve product lines and production efficiency.
- Identify trends in Data Center design and guide R&D in developing new products to meet market needs.
- Attend Data Center trade shows and conferences.

- Collaborate effectively across departments and with external stakeholders.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation throughout all project phases.
- Continuously improve knowledge of manufacturing processes and industry standards.
- Be flexible at attending industry events and occasional travel as required.
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with at least 2 years of experience.
- 0-3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment .
- Experience reading construction documents and estimating .
- General knowledge of server technology and associated hardware required.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Teams).
- Skills in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and Revit are a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, perform quoting, understand manufacturing processes, conduct time studies, and analyze trends.
