Job Description:
We are seeking a senior-level Enterprise Operations Leader to serve as the on-site Infrastructure Service Delivery Lead for a large, mission-critical Federal IT environment. This role combines deep infrastructure architecture expertise with hands-on operational leadership and direct people management. You will lead multi-disciplinary infrastructure teams responsible for enterprise systems, data center operations, and network performance - while functioning as a recognized Solutions Architect Subject Matter Expert. The ideal candidate will bring structure, technical depth, and disciplined operational management to stabilize, document, standardize, and transform IT operations.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship is required
- Must be able to obtain a Public Trust clearance
- This position requires working onsite in Washington D.C., 5 days per week
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of enterprise IT infrastructure experience.
- Advanced degree or significant equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading technical teams in complex environments.
- ITIL Certification (current).
- Deep expertise in enterprise Data Center and Network environments.
- Experience managing service levels (SLAs/KPIs).
- Experience overseeing large-scale, multi-domain infrastructure operations.
- Strong executive communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- PMP certification or equivalent
- Federal Government IT operations experience
- Experience in hybrid environments integrating on-prem and cloud systems
- Experience implementing automation and configuration management tools
- Experience supporting DevSecOps within infrastructure operations
Responsibilities:
Lead Enterprise Infrastructure Operations
- Serve as the accountable on-site leader for Data Center and Network operations.
- Own service delivery performance, availability (99.9% uptime targets), and operational metrics.
- Lead incident response and Root Cause Analysis for critical infrastructure events.
- Provide executive-level reporting and operational transparency to Government stakeholders.
- Support stabilization and modernization of legacy environments through structured transformation plans.
Lead and Develop Technical Teams
- Direct and manage infrastructure engineering and operations staff across multiple technical domains.
- Establish performance expectations and ensure service level objectives are achieved.
- Mentor senior engineers and technical leads.
- Coordinate cross-functional collaboration between systems, network, security, and support teams.
- Drive a culture of ownership, technical excellence, and operational discipline.
- Support staffing planning and workforce development.
Systems & Data Center Oversight
- Provide architectural and operational leadership across:
- Enterprise server environments (physical & virtual)
- Operating systems and system utilities
- Database and middleware platforms (operational governance)
- Backup, recovery, and high availability solutions
- Remote access infrastructure
- Oversee lifecycle management, capacity planning, and performance optimization.
- Ensure compliance with patching and vulnerability remediation standards.
- Drive automation and operational improvements.
Network Operations & Engineering Leadership
- Oversee LAN/WAN infrastructure, routing, switching, and firewalls.
- Improve network resiliency and eliminate single points of failure.
- Lead performance monitoring and bandwidth management efforts.
- Ensure disciplined configuration and change management practices.
- Coordinate with carriers and third-party providers.
- Identify and eliminate single points of failure
- Applications & End User Services (EUS)
- Oversee enterprise application support and operational stability.
- Ensure defined support tiers and incident resolution workflows.
- Lead desktop engineering, endpoint management, and service desk operations.
- Improve user experience and service responsiveness.
- Implement structured knowledge management practices across EUS teams.
Solutions Architecture
- This position requires a Subject Matter Expert Solutions Architect who:
- Participate in the full systems life cycle - design, implementation, integration, and operational support.
- Design infrastructure solutions aligned to Enterprise Architecture standards.
- Function as a recognized technical expert in enterprise infrastructure disciplines.
- Apply business management practices and technical expertise to solve complex operational challenges.
- Support Scrum and Agile methodologies in infrastructure delivery.
- Recommend improvements to processes, tools, and operational practices.
- Remain current on industry trends and emerging infrastructure technologies.
