Job Description
We’re seeking an IT & Special Equipment Technician to join our Technical Operations team with strong aptitude in both hands-on equipment support and day-to-day IT systems management. This role supports the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wide-format printers, laser systems, and specialty production equipment, while also providing internal IT support including workstation setup, Active Directory administration, and technical documentation.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working across both physical equipment and IT infrastructure, solving problems quickly, and supporting a fast-paced technical environment.
Key Responsibilities
Special Equipment & Printer Support
- Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair wide-format printers, laser printers, and specialty production equipment.
- Perform routine calibration, preventative maintenance, and service on production devices.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and software-related equipment issues.
- Support installation and configuration of new printing and laser systems.
- Ensure equipment uptime and optimal performance for daily operations.
- Ability to seek guidance internally or externally when the task is out of your realm of expertise.
- Ability to create support tickets manufacturers/suppliers and continue collaboration to complete repairs
IT Support & Systems Administration
- Provide daily IT support including setup, deployment, and troubleshooting of computers, peripherals, and network-connected devices.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and device access through Active Directory.
- Assist with basic networking, printer connectivity, and workstation performance issues.
- Support Office 365 tools and general business technology needs.
Documentation & Process Improvement
- Create and maintain internal IT documentation, troubleshooting guides, and equipment service records.
- Help improve technical workflows, service processes, and support response procedures.
- Track recurring issues and recommend long-term solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with production, operations, and customer-facing teams to resolve technical and equipment challenges.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on proper equipment use and IT best practices.
- Communicate effectively with vendors and service partners when needed.
- Internal communication through company phone with team members to give current status of equipment being addressed.
- Ability to check in/check out with department heads and update status of any down equipment.
Skills & Experience
- Prior experience with wide-format printers, specialty laser equipment, and commercial printing systems.
- Strong troubleshooting ability across hardware, software, mechanical, and IT systems.
- Experience with Active Directory administration, workstation deployment, and user support.
- Familiarity with RIP software, printer drivers, and production print workflows is a plus.
- Comfortable creating clear technical documentation and support resources.
- Strong organization, communication, and customer-service mindset.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum 2 years of IT Service Desk experience, equipment service, printer repair, or related technical roles is a plus.
- Familiarity with Windows environments, Office 365, and business IT systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and legally work in the U.S.
