Environmental Due Diligence Project Lead – London

Location: London | Hybrid | Discipline: Engineering

My client is an expanding international M&E consultancy with a proven track record in low-energy design and a commitment to delivering exceptional technical solutions. Through their market-leading expertise, they help shape the world’s digital infrastructure and support clients in realising ambitious zero-carbon goals.

They are now seeking an Environmental Due Diligence Project Lead to join their London team, with occasional travel across EMEA. This is an exciting opportunity to influence the strategic direction of new data centre developments in some of the world’s leading markets.

What You’ll Do

Due Diligence & Feasibility

  • Lead environmental due diligence for potential data centre sites across EMEA
  • Assess environmental constraints, risks, and compliance requirements
  • Deliver feasibility studies and provide strategic environmental input

Environmental Planning & EIA

  • Prepare, review, and manage EIAs and related documentation
  • Coordinate with authorities to ensure compliance and secure permits
  • Identify and mitigate key environmental risks across biodiversity, water, air quality, and noise

Project Management

  • Drive early-stage project plans, budgets, and timelines
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams and ensure sustainability & ESG objectives are met

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Be the primary client contact during due diligence and planning
  • Translate technical insights into clear, strategic recommendations

What You’ll Bring

Essential

  • Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Geography, or similar
  • Professional accreditation (IEMA, RTPI, or equivalent)
  • Strong experience managing EIAs for large-scale infrastructure projects
  • Understanding of Early Stage RIBA 0–1 Due Diligence
  • Deep knowledge of EIA regulations, planning frameworks, and permits across EMEA
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Ability to interpret complex technical reports into actionable strategy

Desirable

  • Experience with data centre development or similar industrial/commercial projects
  • Postgraduate qualification in environmental management or sustainability
  • Experience conducting baseline surveys, scoping studies, and coordinating with ecological, hydrological, or geotechnical specialists
