Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Engineer
Location: Onsite in Fremont, CA
Salary: $110,000 - $130,000
Job Summary:
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Engineer will lead initiatives focused on hazard identification, risk reduction, ergonomics, industrial hygiene, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement within high-volume server assembly and test operations. The position also supports incident investigations, employee training, contractor safety management, and compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulatory requirements. This is an onsite position that requires regular travel to support EHS activities across multiple locations.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses (JHAs), ergonomic evaluations, and safety audits.
- Strong understanding of engineering controls and the ability to apply technical solutions to reduce workplace hazards, improve equipment safety, and enhance operational efficiency.
- Experience reviewing and interpreting electrical diagrams, manuals, equipment layouts, process flow diagrams, and facility utility drawings to support safe manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of machine safety principles including lockout/tagout (LOTO), guarding, electrical safety, ventilation systems, and automation safety controls.
- Experience supporting new facility design, production line expansions, and equipment installations with EHS by design principles.
- Ability to evaluate and implement noise reduction and acoustic control solutions for server racks, manufacturing equipment, and testing environments with support from external consultants.
- Familiarity with waste diversion, recycling programs, hazardous waste management, and ESG / sustainability initiatives within manufacturing operations.
- Experience supporting product safety initiatives and collaborating with engineering teams during product development and manufacturing process changes, if necessary.
- Ability to analyze EHS data, identify trends, and drive corrective and preventive actions through continuous improvement methodologies.
- Monitor and improve workplace conditions related to ergonomics, noise, air quality, and electrical/mechanical safety.
- Partner with facilities and operations teams on fire/life safety, emergency response, and business continuity planning related to engineering controls.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce injuries, environmental impact, and operational risk.
- Be professionally responsible for cross function EHS management.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Experience in data center, manufacturing, or server rack integration environments.
- Familiarity with RBA, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 14064 and ESG are .
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Must be detailed , strong communication skills, and able to work independently and in a team setting
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Experience with EHS software and data analytics tools.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science, or related field.
- 5+ years of EHS experience in semiconductor or manufacturing .
- Strong knowledge of EHS regulations (EPA, Cal/OSHA, IBC, Fire Code, NFPA, ANSI, etc.), industrial safety standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Experience with ergonomics, hazardous materials, lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine safety, and incident investigation.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are a plus.
