Position Summary
\n
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist is responsible for implementing, monitoring, and enforcing health, safety, and environmental programs on data center construction sites where fiber optic infrastructure is being installed. This role partners closely with project managers, superintendents, field technicians, subcontractors, and client safety representatives to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, customer requirements, and company safety policies. The EHS Specialist drives a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention, hazard recognition, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain project-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASPs).
- Monitor compliance with OSHA standards, local regulations, and data center-specific safety protocols.
- Facilitate daily safety briefings, toolbox talks, pre-task planning meetings, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe work practices.
- Evaluate high-risk activities such as energized work, ladder use, lift operation, confined space entry, excavation, rigging, and material handling.
- Conduct field observations and coach employees on safe work behaviors.
- Assist project leadership in implementing corrective actions for identified hazards.
- Monitor compliance with environmental regulations and project environmental requirements.
- Ensure proper waste handling, recycling, and disposal practices.
- Support spill prevention and environmental protection initiatives.
- Conduct environmental inspections and maintain associated records.
- Deliver safety for new employees and subcontractors.
- Coordinate required safety certifications and training programs.
- Conduct ongoing safety awareness and compliance training.
- Mentor field personnel on hazard recognition and risk mitigation.

Education & Experience Requirements
\n
- \n
- OSHA 30 Construction Certification is required.
- Prior experience as an EHS Specialist/Officer role
- Prior experience in data center construction projects is
- Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety standards.
- Experience conducting incident investigations and safety audits.
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management systems.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

- Work may be an indoor or outdoor environment.
- Ability to work extended work hours as the need arises, as in the case of emergencies at a worksite, may be required.
