Facilities Civil Engineer

JOB SUMMARY:

The Facilities Civil Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and repair of concrete and steel structures.  They will work together with Mechanical and Electrical Engineers on capital improvement projects to optimize quality while keeping to a schedule and budget.  The Facilities Civil Engineer must be project oriented and able to work well in a team environment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•          Evaluate machinery layouts and design foundations based on requirements.

•          Design infrastructure support for machinery.

•          On-site supervision of civil and millwright contractors during projects.

•          Perform on-site surveys and update plant records and layouts as needed.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•          Knowledge of drafting standards and tolerances.

•          Experience with AutoCAD 2D layouts.

•          Experience with 3D modeling is a plus.

•          Organized record keeping skills.

•          Ability to create bid packages and work with outside vendors for RFQs.

 

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil, Structural, or Construction Engineering, and a working knowledge of foundation design.
  • They must also have formal training in drafting techniques and standards.
  • The ideal candidate will have working experience in a construction environment, and the ability to work with contractors.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience
  • Exposure to manufacturing environments is a plus.

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:             YES           NO            

Travel requirements will consist of 35% to 50% during periods of increased project work. A 25% typical travel requirement can be expected otherwise.
