About the Company

We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated Facilities Technician to maintain the day-to-day operations, appearance, and general upkeep of our data center campus. This role combines building maintenance with hands-on janitorial and custodial duties to ensure a clean, safe, and professional environment for staff and visitors.

About the Role

Please note, we would prefer this employee to work second shift, hours roughly 3PM-Midnight.

Responsibilities

Janitorial & Custodial Services

  • Perform daily cleaning of all interior spaces including offices, hallways, lobbies, conference rooms, and data hall entry vestibules.
  • Clean, sanitize and stock restrooms.
  • Vacuum, mop, sweep, and scrub floors on a regular schedule; strip and wax hard floors as needed.
  • Empty trash and recycling receptacles throughout the facility; manage waste removal schedules.
  • Clean interior windows, glass partitions, and doors.
  • Perform periodic deep-cleaning tasks such as carpet extraction, upholstery cleaning, and high-surface dusting.
  • Maintain janitorial closets and equipment in clean, organized, and working conditions.

Building Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections of the facility interior and exterior, identifying and addressing maintenance needs such as lighting, plumbing, drywall, painting, and door/lock hardware.
  • Monitor and maintain break rooms, kitchens, and shared workspaces to ensure they are in good working order.
  • Assist with furniture moves, office reconfigurations, and workspace setups for new employees.

Shipping, Receiving & Inventory

  • Manage shipping and receiving operations at the site, including accepting deliveries, verifying contents against packing slips, and coordinating outbound shipments.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment, supplies, and materials on-site.
  • Organize and maintain storage areas for incoming and on-hand equipment.

Grounds & Exterior

  • Maintain lawns, landscaping, parking lots, sidewalks, and exterior signage.
  • Perform seasonal tasks including snow/ice removal, leaf cleanup, and irrigation system maintenance.
  • Ensure that exterior lighting, fencing, and gates are in good condition.
  • Keep loading docks and exterior storage areas clean and organized.
  • Sweep or pressure-wash exterior walkways and entryways as needed.

Kitchen & Common Areas

  • Maintain kitchen appliances (refrigerators, dishwashers, microwaves, coffee machines) and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed.
  • Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, sinks, and appliances daily.
  • Manage supply inventory for kitchens, restrooms, and common areas; place orders and restock as necessary.

Critical Infrastructure Support

  • Assist HVAC engineers and electricians with tasks as required, including carrying materials, holding equipment, pulling cable, and providing general support during maintenance or installation activities.
  • Opportunity to learn and grow into hands-on work with data center-level IT equipment, including racking, cabling, and hardware installation as skills develop and business needs require.

Administrative & Safety

  • Maintain a log of completed work orders, inspections, and vendor visits.
  • Comply with all site safety policies, including badge/access protocols and visitor escort procedures.
  • Properly handle, store, and dispose of cleaning chemicals in accordance with SDS requirements.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or security concerns to the appropriate team.

Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of experience in building maintenance, custodial services, or a similar hands-on role.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing, electrical (non-critical), carpentry, and painting.
  • Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safe handling procedures.
  • Ability to operate common maintenance and janitorial equipment (hand tools, power tools, floor scrubbers, carpet extractors, pressure washers, snow blowers, Lawnmower, Weed eater, etc.).
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks independently.
  • Comfortable working in a secure environment with strict access control policies.
  • Valid driver's license.

  • Experience working in or around a data center, hospital, or other mission-critical facility.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
  • Experience with a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) or work order platform.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office such as Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
