The Data Center Technician is responsible for performing advanced preventive maintenance and corrective repairs within a data center environment. The role involves oversight and hands-on management of electrical and mechanical systems, including but not limited to: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, chillers, electrical distribution systems, HVAC systems, Building Management Systems (BMS), and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) work dispatching.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform daily site inspections of all Mechanical & Engineering (M&E) systems and technical equipment, including servicing and maintenance.
- Execute assigned tasks in accordance with established processes, procedures, and the company’s Environment, Health & Safety Policy, ensuring compliance with all PPE and safety standards.
- Ensure all regulatory requirements, operational procedures, and quality standards are consistently met.
- Supervise and coordinate third-party vendor activities, ensuring adherence to established site procedures, compliance regulations, and safety standards.
- Escort vendors during on-site visits, ensuring adherence to site expectations and documentation protocols.
- Assist in developing and maintaining work processes, Job Hazard Analyses, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for critical operations involving risk assessment.
- Maintain and update CERM documents, equipment logs, and other operational documentation.
- Complete all required technical and safety training to ensure full compliance with job responsibilities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have formal supervisory duties. However, the technician may provide informal technical guidance or training to peers and assist in coordinating daily work assignments.
Qualifications

Required:
- 2–4 years of experience in mechanical or electrical fields (HVAC, plumbing, electrical).
- Strong technical background in either HVAC or Electrical systems.
- Knowledge of emergency response procedures, standby operations, and call-out protocols.
- High School Diploma or GED required.

- EPA 608 Universal Certification
Communication Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to comprehend, interpret, and execute detailed instructions and procedures.
- Capable of drafting clear reports and correspondence.
- Able to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, and supervisors.
- Comfortable presenting information to internal teams or larger groups of employees.
Financial Knowledge
- Basic understanding of financial principles and billing processes.
- Ability to calculate simple figures such as percentages.
Reasoning and Analytical Ability
- Ability to follow general instructions and standard operating procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills and basic analytical ability for standard situations.
Other Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
- Experience working in a financial or billing-related environment is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and work effectively under limited supervision.
