Job Title: Fiber Splicing Manager

Job Summary

The Fiber Splicing Manager is responsible for overseeing all fiber splicing operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to industry quality standards. This role manages splicing crews, coordinates with project managers and construction teams, enforces quality control, and ensures all documentation and testing meet customer and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and supervise fiber splicing technicians and subcontractors
  • Plan, schedule, and assign splicing work across multiple projects
  • Ensure all splicing, testing, and restoration activities meet company and industry standards
  • Review OTDR, power meter, and continuity test results for accuracy and compliance
  • Enforce safety policies, including OSHA and company-specific procedures
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and construction teams to resolve field issues
  • Maintain splicing documentation, redlines, as-builts, and test records
  • Track productivity, material usage, and job progress
  • Troubleshoot complex fiber issues and provide technical guidance to crews
  • Conduct quality audits and corrective actions when needed
  • Assist with hiring, training, and performance evaluations of splicing staff

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on fiber splicing experience (single-mode and multi-mode)
  • 2+ years in a supervisory or lead splicer role
  • Strong knowledge of outside plant (OSP) and/or inside plant (ISP) fiber networks
  • Proficiency with fusion splicers, OTDRs, power meters, and related test equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret fiber design prints and schematics
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites

Qualifications

  • Fiber Optic Technician certifications (ETA, FOA, or equivalent)
  • Experience managing large-scale OSP or FTTH deployments
  • Familiarity with customer standards (telecom, ISP, utility, or data center environments)
  • OSHA 10/30 certification

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Field-based role with frequent travel to construction sites
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined spaces when required
