Job Description

We are seeking experienced Optical Deployment Technicians to support AWS Red Zone Metro 6500 deployments at AWS Data Centers. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with optical networking, fiber troubleshooting, and Ciena 6500 deployment activities. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced data center environment.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of Optical Line Systems (OLS).
• Hands-on experience with optical fiber troubleshooting.
• Ability to read and understand Signal Flow Drawings.
• Experience using:
• • Optical Power Meter
  • VFL
  • OTDR and interpreting OTDR results
• Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Comfortable learning and working with AWS automation platforms.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform deployment and support activities for AWS Metro 6500 optical network infrastructure.
• Work within AWS Red Zone environments while adhering to all operational and safety guidelines.
• Read, interpret, and troubleshoot using Signal Flow Drawings.
• Diagnose and resolve optical network issues, including:
• • Optical loss
  • ORL (Optical Return Loss) / Reflection issues
  • Power deviations
  • Fiber mispatching (mis-fibering)
• Perform proper fiber cleaning and fiber scope inspections.
• Use optical testing tools, including:
• • Optical Power Meter
  • Visual Fault Locator (VFL)
  • OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer)
• Analyze OTDR traces for troubleshooting and validation.
• Utilize AWS automation tools and workflows for deployment and operational activities.
• Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project timelines.

Skills

• Experience with Ciena 6500 commissioning and turn-up activities.
• Previous experience supporting AWS Data Center deployments.
