Job Description
We are seeking experienced Optical Deployment Technicians to support AWS Red Zone Metro 6500 deployments at AWS Data Centers. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with optical networking, fiber troubleshooting, and Ciena 6500 deployment activities. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced data center environment.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of Optical Line Systems (OLS).
- Hands-on experience with optical fiber troubleshooting.
- Ability to read and understand Signal Flow Drawings.
- Experience using:

- Optical Power Meter
- VFL
- OTDR and interpreting OTDR results
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Comfortable learning and working with AWS automation platforms.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform deployment and support activities for AWS Metro 6500 optical network infrastructure.
- Work within AWS Red Zone environments while adhering to all operational and safety guidelines.
- Read, interpret, and troubleshoot using Signal Flow Drawings.
- Diagnose and resolve optical network issues, including:

- Optical loss
- ORL (Optical Return Loss) / Reflection issues
- Power deviations
- Fiber mispatching (mis-fibering)
- Perform proper fiber cleaning and fiber scope inspections.
- Use optical testing tools, including:

- Optical Power Meter
- Visual Fault Locator (VFL)
- OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer)
- Analyze OTDR traces for troubleshooting and validation.
- Utilize AWS automation tools and workflows for deployment and operational activities.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project timelines.
Skills
- Experience with Ciena 6500 commissioning and turn-up activities.
- Previous experience supporting AWS Data Center deployments.
