Position Overview

Dhaka Technologies Limited is seeking a highly experienced Field Network Engineer (ITS Infrastructure) to support the design, deployment, operation, and maintenance of secure, highly available network infrastructure for an Intelligent Transportation Systems environment.

The selected candidate will serve as a senior technical resource responsible for supporting mission-critical network connectivity across traffic signals, video surveillance systems, IoT field devices, remote aggregation points, field cabinets, headend facilities, and data center environments.

This role requires strong hands-on experience with Cisco DMVPN, Metro Ethernet, WAN transport, dynamic routing, IPsec/GRE tunneling, fiber optic networks, LTE/5G failover, network segmentation, IoT security, high-availability network design, and field-based network troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities

DMVPN and Secure Overlay Networking

  • Deploy, configure, and support Cisco DMVPN Phase 2 and Phase 3 hub-and-spoke and spoke-to-spoke overlay networks.
  • Configure and troubleshoot IPsec VPN profiles, GRE tunnels, NHRP mappings, and tunnel interfaces.
  • Implement and support dynamic routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP, over DMVPN tunnels.
  • Design and maintain failover and redundancy strategies, including LTE/5G backup paths.
  • Monitor tunnel health, latency, throughput, and VPN performance across distributed field locations.
  • Ensure secure encrypted communications across all field, WAN, and headend network connections.

Metro Ethernet and WAN Transport

  • Coordinate with service providers for Metro Ethernet circuit provisioning, turn-up, testing, and incident resolution.
  • Support E-Line, E-LAN, carrier handoff, and dual-WAN redundancy configurations.
  • Perform field installations, cutovers, upgrades, and troubleshooting for routers, switches, cabinets, and WAN handoff equipment.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity issues from field sites through WAN transport to headend facilities and data centers.

Network Engineering and Operations

  • Manage VLAN configurations, IP addressing schemes, Layer 2/Layer 3 connectivity, and routing between remote aggregation points and data centers.
  • Implement and maintain network segmentation using VRFs, VLANs, firewall policies, and IoT security best practices.
  • Apply, tune, and troubleshoot QoS policies for latency-sensitive traffic, including traffic signal control and video transport.
  • Maintain high-availability network designs, redundant architectures, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Support network automation using Ansible, Python-based scripting, or similar automation methods.
  • Prepare and maintain complex technical documentation, including network diagrams, IP assignments, equipment inventories, configuration records, and operational procedures.

ITS Infrastructure Support

  • Support transportation technology systems, including traffic signal controllers, CCTV/video surveillance transport, traffic management systems, and IoT field devices.
  • Ensure reliable, low-latency transport connectivity for field-deployed ITS systems.
  • Coordinate field cabinet upgrades to support new network equipment, including power, space, cabling, and environmental requirements.
  • Support migration of remote aggregation points from legacy infrastructure to modern DMVPN-based transport.
  • Monitor network performance, availability, and service-level compliance across ITS transport links.
  • Support fiber optic network design, transceiver selection, field connectivity, and troubleshooting.

Security and Compliance

  • Ensure network infrastructure follows applicable security policies, encryption requirements, and network governance standards.
  • Manage VPN certificate lifecycles, key rotation, trust domain configurations, and secure access controls.
  • Implement IoT segmentation and security best practices for field-deployed devices.
  • Support security audits, vulnerability assessments, and remediation activities for ITS network infrastructure.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 15+ years of professional experience in network engineering, infrastructure engineering, ITS networking, field networking, or a related technical discipline.
  • 11+ years of experience conveying technical and functional concepts within a specialized technical environment.
  • 11+ years of experience preparing complex technical documentation.
  • 11+ years of experience with Intelligent Transportation Systems, including traffic signal controllers, CCTV/video surveillance transport, traffic management systems, or related field infrastructure.
  • 11+ years of fiber optic network experience, including single-mode fiber design and SFP/SFP+ transceivers.
  • 11+ years of network automation experience using Ansible, Python-based scripting, or similar tools.
  • 10+ years of prior experience working with a state, municipal, or transportation-focused technology environment.
  • 8+ years of experience with high-availability network design, redundant architectures, and disaster recovery planning.
  • 7+ years of experience with LTE/5G failover solutions.
  • 5+ years of experience with IoT security and network segmentation best practices.
  • Active CCNA certification.
  • Strong experience with Cisco DMVPN, IPsec VPN, GRE tunnels, NHRP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, VRFs, QoS, and WAN troubleshooting.
  • Strong understanding of Metro Ethernet, carrier handoffs, dual-WAN design, and service provider coordination.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across field sites, WAN transport, aggregation points, and data centers.
  • Ability to work in field environments, data center environments, and remote support settings.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to field locations as required.
  • Ability to lift and rack network equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to participate in scheduled maintenance windows and provide after-hours emergency response support when required.

Qualifications

  • CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure certification.
  • Certified Fiber Optic Technician certification or equivalent fiber credential.
  • CompTIA Network+ certification.
  • CompTIA Security+ certification.
  • ITIL v4 Foundation certification.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical public infrastructure, transportation systems, smart city infrastructure, or large-scale distributed field networks.
