JOB SUMMARY: 

As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be the go-to expert for on-site diagnostics, maintenance, and repair of Caterpillar (CAT) Power equipment and related systems. You’ll work independently from a fully equipped Ohio CAT service truck, servicing and performing:

• CAT diesel and gas generators (5KW to 2MEG)
• Control panels and electrical distribution systems
• Perform load bank testing, commissioning, and preventive maintenance
• Use diagnostic tools (e.g., CAT ET (Electronic Technician), SIS (Service Information System), and other computer-based diagnostic tools/software) to troubleshooting issues
• Provide exceptional customer service and technical support
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and documentation standards
• Knowledge of automatic transfer switches and control logic
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing emergency repair procedures of AC/DC controls
• Troubleshooting and diagnosing gas and diesel industrial engines
• Reading and understanding wiring diagrams and schematics
• Providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers
• Working independently with minimal daily supervision
• Working in a safe manner at all times

COMPETENCIES:  

• Experience with CAT, Cummins, Generac, Kohler, or Detroit Diesel generator systems
• Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
• Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and control diagrams
• Military or field-based experience in equipment diagnostics and repair is highly valued
• Comfortable working independently in outdoor environments
• Must own and safely use personal mechanic’s tools

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: 

• High School Diploma or GED is required, along with completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power systems, plus at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in repairing diesel engines, generators, and industrial equipment.
