The Field Service Manager (Mechanical) is responsible for leading and overseeing Phiston’s domestic and international field service operations, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction and operational excellence. This leadership role combines strong mechanical expertise with strategic management, team development, and vendor oversight. The Field Service Manager directs all field activities, supervises service teams, manages vendor relationships, and ensures that clients worldwide receive timely, high-quality mechanical support.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop field service technicians and coordinators, fostering a high-performance, safety-focused culture.
- Define team objectives, allocate resources effectively, and ensure timely completion of service projects worldwide.
- Provide coaching, performance evaluations, and professional development plans for service personnel.
Service Operations Oversight
- Oversee daily service operations, ensuring prompt resolution of client issues and efficient deployment of technicians.
- Establish, implement, and enforce SOPs, quality standards, and escalation procedures to ensure consistent service delivery.
- Track and analyze service metrics, identifying trends and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.
Client & Stakeholder Management
- Serve as the senior point of contact for key accounts, managing escalations and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams—Engineering, Production, Quality, and Sales—to support client needs and improve product reliability.
- Communicate field feedback, recurring service issues, and improvement opportunities to senior management.
Vendor & Contract Management
- Manage relationships with third-party service vendors and contractors to ensure compliance with Phiston’s standards and expectations.
- Negotiate service contracts, warranties, and maintenance agreements with external partners to optimize cost, quality, and service coverage.
- Evaluate vendor performance regularly and identify opportunities for cost reduction, efficiency improvements, and risk mitigation.
- Coordinate logistics and parts supply with vendors to support timely repairs and installations.
Technical & Mechanical Leadership
- Provide advanced mechanical expertise and guidance on complex troubleshooting and system repairs.
- Participate in key service deployments and technical evaluations for high-profile clients when required.
- Maintain a proactive focus on Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) compliance across all service operations.
Process Development & Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives to streamline field service procedures and documentation.
- Develop and maintain technical manuals, training materials, and service records.
- Drive innovation and process optimization to enhance field efficiency and customer experience.
Reporting & Analytics
- Generate and present regular reports on service performance, vendor compliance, and client satisfaction metrics.
- Analyze operational data to forecast service demands and improve resource planning.
Travel
- Travel domestically and internationally (approximately 25–40%) to oversee service operations, vendor audits, and client visits.
Qualifications
- Minimum 7–10 years of experience in field service operations, including at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Strong hands-on mechanical background with expertise in troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of complex machinery.
- Proven experience managing service vendors and negotiating service or maintenance contracts.
- Demonstrated leadership in building and managing geographically distributed service teams.
- Exceptional customer service and relationship management skills.
- Solid understanding of EH&S standards and compliance practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field .
- Valid driver’s license, passport, and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
