ob Summary
The Field Service Technician – Power Units is responsible for the on-site installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of power and distribution equipment. This role supports critical power systems at customer locations such as data centers, hospitals, and industrial facilities, ensuring reliable and uninterrupted operation. The technician serves as a key technical resource, delivering high-quality service and customer support in the field.
Key Responsibilities
- Startup & Commissioning

- Install new power and distribution equipment, including generators, diesel engines, switchgear, and UPS systems
- Perform startup, testing, and commissioning to verify proper operation and system performance
- Preventive Maintenance

- Conduct routine inspections and scheduled maintenance
- Perform fluid analysis, filter replacements, battery testing, and system checks to minimize unplanned downtime
- Troubleshooting & Repair

- Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults in generators ranging from 5kW to 2MW
- Troubleshoot diesel engines, switchgear, and associated control systems using schematics, diagnostic software, and test equipment
- Emergency Service Response

- Respond to 24/7 emergency service calls to restore power and repair malfunctioning equipment
- Work efficiently under pressure to support mission-critical facilities
- Documentation & Reporting

- Maintain accurate service records and maintenance logs
- Complete detailed service reports using field service management software in a timely manner
- Customer Support

- Act as the primary on-site point of contact for customers
- Provide technical guidance and recommendations on proper equipment operation and maintenance
Required Qualifications
- Education
-
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Associate degree in electrical, diesel, or related technical discipline ()
- Experience

- Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience servicing diesel engines, power generators, or industrial equipment
- Technical Skills

- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals
- Understanding of low- and medium-voltage power systems
- Tools & Technology

- Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters and PC-based programming for printed circuit boards and control systems
- Licensing & Travel

- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a clean driving record ( or required, depending on role)
- Ability to travel to customer sites and work flexible hours, including on-call rotations
