Fire Alarm Foreman – Commercial Projects (Charlotte, NC)
$42–$47/hr (based on experience, certifications, and leadership experience)
TEC Electric is seeking an experienced Fire Alarm Foreman to lead fire alarm installation, service, and commissioning projects throughout the Charlotte area. This position is responsible for supervising field crews, coordinating project activities, ensuring code compliance, and delivering high-quality fire alarm system installations on commercial and industrial projects.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can successfully manage technicians in the field while also serving as the technical expert for fire alarm system installation, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and supervise fire alarm technicians on commercial and industrial projects
- Coordinate daily field activities to ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope
- Install, program, test, and commission fire alarm systems
- Oversee installation of fire alarm panels, initiating devices, notification appliances, and associated wiring
- Read and interpret blueprints, riser diagrams, specifications, and fire alarm shop drawings
- Perform system testing, inspections, troubleshooting, and final commissioning
- Coordinate with project managers, general contractors, inspectors, and customers
- Ensure all work complies with NFPA 72, NEC, local codes, and project specifications
- Program and configure fire alarm systems from manufacturers such as Notifier, Siemens, Simplex, Edwards, Silent Knight, and Gamewell
- Manage material needs, workforce planning, and project documentation
- Enforce TEC Electric safety standards and OSHA requirements
What We're Looking For
Must-Have
- 5+ years of fire alarm installation, service, or commissioning experience
- Previous leadership, foreman, or lead technician experience
- Strong knowledge of NFPA 72, NEC, and commercial fire alarm installation practices
- Experience programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, riser diagrams, and specifications
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality workmanship
- Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
Nice to Have (Not Required)
- NICET Fire Alarm Certification
- Experience with Notifier, Siemens, Simplex, Edwards, Silent Knight, or Gamewell systems
- Experience managing large commercial, healthcare, industrial, education, or data center projects
- Knowledge of integrated systems including access control, security, and low-voltage systems
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification
