Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Fire Protection / Piping Superintendent to lead the installation, testing, and turnover of the physical fire suppression infrastructure for a hyperscale data center. This role is responsible for pre-action sprinkler piping, nitrogen and air systems, clean-agent piping, valves, and pressure-based fire protection systems that protect the data halls and critical rooms.
This position is separate from Life Safety Systems (LSS) and fire alarm scope, which are managed by a different team. The Fire Protection Superintendent owns the pipes, valves, and pressure systems that physically suppress a fire ensuring the building is safe to energize and ready for commissioning and owner acceptance. This is a late-stage construction leadership role on a mission-critical facility preparing for power-on and turnover.
Responsibilities
- Lead field execution for mechanical fire protection and suppression systems, including: Pre-action sprinkler piping and valves Nitrogen and air-pressurization systems, Clean-agent fire suppression (FM-200, Novec, Inergen, etc.) & drain, test, zone assemblies
- Supervise and coordinate fire protection subcontractors and piping crews.
- Ensure all work complies with drawings, specifications, and owner standards.
- Manage pressure testing, leak detection, flushing, and system readiness.
- Coordinate with LSS, Mechanical, Electrical, and Commissioning teams during integrated system testing.
- Track manpower, schedule, and installation progress for all FP scopes.
- Resolve RFIs, redlines, and constructability issues related to piping and suppression systems.
- Participate in walkdowns, inspections, and turnover activities.
- Enforce safety and quality standards at all times.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of construction supervision in fire protection piping, sprinkler, or suppression systems.
- Experience on mission-critical or complex facilities (data centers, hospitals, semiconductor fabs, industrial plants, or similar).
- Strong working knowledge of: Pre-action sprinkler systems, nitrogen or air pressurization, cean-agent suppression systems fire protection piping and valve assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret FP drawings, risers, and P&IDs.
- Experience supporting pressure testing, system startup, and commissioning readiness.
- Hyperscale data center experience
- Experience with integrated fire protection commissioning
