FSS Manager - Traveling Position

JOB SUMMARY:

The Food Safety and Safety Manager is responsible for implementing and enforcing Food Safety and Safety programs across assigned plants and regions. This role serves as the primary point of contact for operations teams, monitors all Food Safety metrics, conducts audits, delivers training, compiles data and reports, attends customer reviews, and provides third‐party audit support.

EDUCATION:

Required: High School Diploma or GED; relevant manufacturing or production experience.

: Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, food safety, agricultural science, or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: 2+ years of successful experience in a manufacturing or production environment; experience in QA/Safety roles; 2+ years of sanitation experience; knowledge of food safety and safety regulations.

: 5+ years in management in manufacturing; 1+ year QA Specialist/Technician in food manufacturing; 3+ years people‐management experience in compliance/audit teams; bilingual .

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

Required: Knowledge of processing industry work requirements; strong time management; self‐motivated; problem‐solver; proficiency in Microsoft Office and SharePoint.

: Familiar with GMPs; chemical knowledge related to microorganism elimination; experience with BRC, SQF, USDA, FDA, and FSA audits.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide technical Food Safety and Safety training.

• Monitor data inputs and ensure timely and accurate reporting.

• Conduct routine service visits to evaluate Food Safety KPIs.

• Perform quarterly audits, ensuring audit‐ready documentation.

• Build relationships with QA, USDA, and client‐side food safety personnel.

• Lead business review meetings with management and clients.

• Prepare weekly reports (Service Logs, Audit Tracking, Summaries).

• Create and maintain safety programs meeting/exceeding regulatory guidelines.

• Oversee investigations and ensure compliance and strong documentation.

• Identify weaknesses in safety programs and implement improvements.

• Analyze data to identify regional trends and initiate corrective actions.

• Evaluate training, policies, and procedures.

• Support assigned accounts.

• Lead special projects as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Must be willing to travel extensively (75–80%); work all shifts including nights, weekends, holidays; work in all plant environmental conditions (hot, cold, loud, wet); maintain professional demeanor; communicate effectively across all levels; uphold safety practices; multitask; remain approachable and collaborative.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Home‐office based when not traveling. PPE is required at plants (safety glasses, hard hat, ear protection). Work includes standing, walking, sitting, and computer use. Extended driving or travel required.
