Johnson Service Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Gas-Insulated Electrical Equipment Subject Matter Expert for a 12-month contract position in the Chicago, IL area.

 

Selected candidates MUST be a US Person / and MUST provide an available start date, DOB (MM/DD), and the last 4 digits of SSN in order to have their resume submitted to the client company.

This position requires a criminal background check as well as a drug screen.

 

 

Job Title: Gas Insulated Support Specialist

Pay Rate: $92.59/hr

Location: Eaton would consider any location since this is a remote position that requires 75% travel. Warrendale, PA and Chicago, IL are the locations of the training centers were Gas-Insulated electrical gear is trained. The supported jobsites are across North America.

 

TRAVEL: The worker will be expected to book their flights and document receipts as an expense to be reimbursed. CANDIDATE WILL FRONT THE MONEY, REIMBURSED THROUGH CLIENT EXPENSES.

Other expenses will be paid as well- receipts will be submitted the same way.

 

Interview Information: Interview will be with SME and make hiring decision. 45min -1 hour technical interview.

Contract Length: 12-months

Possibility of Contract Extension: Extension up to 18 months / Direct hire is possible

 

 

New gas equipment is being installed in data centers. Load is increasing. 2 weeks on being on 2 different sites. They are teaching others how to do the work and ensuring that it is done correctly. Partially remote a few days/month.

 

Description:

The Gas-Insulated Support Specialist will provide both technical and safety guidance related to gas insulated electrical equipment for EESS field-based personnel. The position is a critical function across EESS to help drive the gas insulated market.

 

  • Ideal candidate would be the Subject Expert Matter with at least 10 years of experience with Gas Insulated Electrical Equipment.
  • This position does not have EH&S requirements, it strictly focuses on training other resources to install, maintain, and commission gas insulated electrical equipment.
  • Associate's degree and/or Military experience is a must.
  • Prior electrical field service work required with low voltage and high voltage systems and machinery.

Disqualifier: No Gas Insulated Electrical Equipment Experience, No associates degree and/or military experience.

Candidate must be aware of 75% travel either to training facility or to various job sites across North America.

 

Essential Functions & Dimensions:

  • Provide technical input and training to employees and leaders throughout the division regarding gas insulated electrical equipment.
  • Technical training will occur onsite as well as in a classroom environment.

 

Position Criteria:

  • The candidate must possess the following skills and knowledge to successfully perform in this function:
  • Strong understanding of gas insulated electrical equipment operation, construction, and commissioning.
  • Strong background in power distribution systems (commercial, industrial, and utility) and equipment.
  • Practical experience in power equipment field service work and work planning.
  • Strong understanding of HEC / LOTO practices and policies, with strong experience in implementing LOTO to establish an electrically safe work condition at complex work sites.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, with an emphasis on active listening to extract key information from others; often via remote means (email, telephone, text) but may require travel and onsite support.
  • Mentoring skills and a desire to teach.
  • First Aid/CPR Trained
  • Familiar with State/Provincial regulations (NFPA/OSHA/CSA)
  • The ability to organize and plan for travel to multiple locations, projects and execute deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability in writing safety checklists and complex LOTO procedures
  • OSHA 10- and 30-Hour General Industry or Construction certification
  • Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical field service, specifically with end user electrical distribution equipment such as gas insulated electrical equipment, switchgear, motor control centers, transformers and power electronic equipment including work such as preventative maintenance, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting and installation.
  • Hazard Energy Control / Lock Out / Tag planning and execution experience.
  • Associates Degree or equivalent military experience
  • Experience training or coaching field service technicians and assemblers
  • Experience conducting training sessions and creating materials
  • Microsoft Experience including PowerPoint, Word, Excel
  • Adobe Experience
  • Understanding of Commissioning Gear / Electrical Tests

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • Electrical Contractor’s License
  • General Contractor’s License
  • Professional Engineering License
  • Experience with SF6 GAS
  • Siemens Gear Experience

 

Job/Project Scope and Working Conditions:

  • Available 24/7
  • Travel to district offices, customer locations that can result in overnight travel up to 75%.
  • Candidate may be remote occasionally
