CornerStone Professional Placement has partnered with a growing and highly respected real estate title company in Fort Worth to identify a General Counsel / Attorney. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced real estate attorney to join an established organization handling a high volume of residential and commercial real estate transactions while serving as a key member of the team and the companies growth trajectory. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in real estate law, title review, curative work, and transactional support while providing legal guidance to internal teams, lenders, title professionals, and real estate partners.
Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal oversight and support for residential and commercial real estate transactions, including approximately 300 transactions per month
  • Review title commitments, title opinions, title examinations, and title insurance matters
  • Perform title curative work involving estates, missing heirs, ownership defects, and co-insurance issues
  • Prepare and review deeds, settlement documents, contracts, and closing-related legal documentation
  • Advise title operations, lenders, and real estate professionals on legal and compliance matters
  • Support complex commercial transactions, including data center development projects and sophisticated title insurance arrangements
  • Ensure compliance with Texas real estate laws, title insurance regulations, and industry requirements
  • Serve as a legal resource on employment-related and general corporate matters as needed
  • Partner with ownership and leadership on risk management, operational support, and long-term strategic initiatives

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active Texas Bar license in good standing
  • Strong background in real estate law, title insurance, attorney services, or closing transactions
  • Prior experience with a title company, title plant, underwriting counsel, or real estate law firm strongly
  • Demonstrated expertise in title review, title curative matters, and transactional legal support
  • Familiarity with SoftPro, Smart View, or similar title and closing software platforms
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume transactional environment
  • Practical, solution-oriented approach to legal issues and client service
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills while maintaining a highly detailed and focused work style
  • Ability to work onsite in Fort Worth and manage occasional extended hours during peak transaction periods

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Employment Type: Direct Hire
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Location: Fort Worth, TX (Onsite with potential hybrid flexibility for the right candidate)
  • Salary: $125,000 - $200,000+ annually based on experience
