Generator Service Engineer (Electrician Bias) - UK WIde

Overview

We’re looking for a qualified electrician with a practical interest in engines and mechanical systems to join a UK-wide generator service team. This role supports critical telecoms infrastructure, ensuring backup power systems remain fully operational.

Key Requirements (Essential)

* ECS Gold Card holder

* Qualified Electrician

* Hands-on experience with engines (professional or personal)

* Strong interest in generator mechanics and power systems

* Full UK driving licence

* Comfortable towing trailers

* Willing to work away from home (approx. 3–4 nights per week)

* Able to participate in on-call rota (1 week in every 4–5, 24/7 cover)

* Competent with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable Experience

* Telecoms infrastructure

* Data centres

* UPS systems

* DC power / battery systems

* Previous work on backup power systems or generators

Role Responsibilities

* Service, maintain, and install generators at telecoms sites

* Configure and program generator control systems

* Diagnose and repair faults

* Complete service reports and documentation (home-based admin days)

* Ensure all equipment meets operational and safety standards

Working Pattern

* 40 hours per week on-site

* Monday to Friday

* Regular overtime

* Frequent UK travel and overnight stays

Project Details

Supporting telecoms infrastructure (EE network – not directly employed by EE)

Working on generator systems at telephone base stations

Ensuring continuous uptime through servicing and reactive maintenance
