Build your structural engineering career on projects that go well beyond the drawing board.
We're recruiting for a small, busy structural engineering consultancy with an opening for a Graduate Structural Engineer in its Bembridge office. You'll receive hands-on training from experienced engineers, develop your design skills and gain exposure to a wide range of projects on the Isle of Wight, across the UK and throughout Europe.
The team works on residential buildings, reinforced concrete frames, groundworks and data centres. With projects ranging from local site work to major schemes, this is an excellent opportunity to see how structural designs are developed, communicated and put into practice. You'll also have the chance to learn about temporary works alongside permanent structural design.
 
You'll work closely with the lead engineer and wider team to:
·Produce structural drawings and drafts using AutoCAD.
·Support the design of permanent works for residential and other building projects.
·Assist with calculations, design information and project documentation.
·Visit sites and develop an understanding of how designs work in practice.
·Communicate with colleagues and construction teams as projects progress.
·Gain experience in temporary works design if that interests you.
 
What we're looking for
You might be a recent structural or civil engineering graduate, an HNC-qualified candidate, or someone with a couple of years of relevant site experience who wants to move into a design role. You'll need:
·A genuine interest in structural engineering and construction.
·The ability and willingness to produce your own drawings and develop your AutoCAD skills.
·A practical approach to solving problems and an eagerness to learn from site work.
·Good communication and organisational skills.
·The motivation to contribute in a busy team where project priorities can move quickly.
 
You'll need to be based on the Isle of Wight or willing to relocate, as this role is based in Bembridge and involves supporting local projects.
You'll get close support and excellent training while building experience across different structures, project stages and locations. It's an opportunity to develop into a well-rounded structural engineer in a team that values practical design and gives junior engineers the chance to get involved
