The Advanced Research Center (ARC) is a Missile Defense Agency (MDA) facility located in Cummings Research Park in Huntsville, AL. The ARC is a Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) facility designed and operated to support Missile Defense System (MDS) Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) Ground Test (GT) and Flight Test (FT) activities.

DTechLogic is the prime contractor supporting the ARC, which is a joint venture between Davidson Technologies and nLogic that was started in 2018. The DTechLogic ARC Team consists of five contractor teammates in Huntsville, AL.

The DTechLogic Team is looking for a detail-oriented and hands-on Cable Technician to support our Hardware Team. This role is perfect for a student interested in the physical layer of networking and data center operations. The will gain valuable, real-world experience in installing, managing, and troubleshooting network cabling and infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong desire to build and maintain the backbone of our company's technology

The period will align with the selected candidate's educational institution's summer semester period.

Job Requirements:

The selected candidate must:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program and have at least one semester or quarter of school remaining after the .
  • Have knowledge/experience of copper or fiber termination
  • Possess an understanding of network/server rack and cabinet cabling management to include fiber and ethernet
  • Show strong organizational skills
  • Understand connectivity and troubleshooting physical layers by tracing and resolving connectivity issues
  • Understand cable testing tools
  • Be able to document cabling pathways, patch panel connections and rack elevations

Daily/Weekly Taskings:

  • Work with seasoned cable and hardware technicians and learn cabling techniques
  • Learn to use cable testing tools and certify new and existing cable runs
  • Review Hardware in the Loop (HWIL) end devices connected by fiber or copper
  • Perform weekly and monthly preventive services on data center racks
  • Respond to time sensitive issues within various testing labs and data centers
  • Document all work by utilizing a digital ticketing system
  • Process and excess end-of-life hardware
  • Run new cables for assigned projects

Summer Project(s):

  • Superhighway expansion for HWIL infrastructure
    • Run multiple trunk cables between data centers and labs.
  • Patch Panel clean-up
    • Review and determine old fiber and copper cabling runs
    • Determine and validate use and function
    • Remove legacy cabling
  • Inventory Management: The will be responsible for creating or updating inventory of all HWIL systems within one of the data centers.

Security Clearance:

The ARC Program requires a U.S. Secret Security Clearance or ability to obtain.
