Head of Networks - Data Centre Connectivity Ecosystem

Job Description

Head of Networks – Data Centre

The Head of Networks is a pivotal role within the Data Centre landscape, where the connectivity ecosystem underpins the value proposition and overall service offering. This position is responsible for two core areas: driving the growth and integration of the ecosystem, and leading the product and process management of network services delivered to connectivity partners and customers.

The role involves close collaboration with ISPs, Tier 1 Networks, Internet Exchanges, SDNs, fiber providers, and local connectivity partners to deliver seamless services across our Data Centres. Partnering with the commercial team, you will identify and understand customer connectivity needs, translating these into compelling business cases to attract and onboard the right providers.

You will also build and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with Marketing, Commercial, Client Services, and Operations to support the expansion and efficiency of the network ecosystem. A deep understanding of connectivity landscapes—including routing maps and fiber routes—is essential for overcoming integration challenges and ensuring best-in-class solutions.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Lead and expand the connectivity ecosystem across multiple Data Centre locations, targeting international, regional, and local networks, ISPs, and Internet Exchanges.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with connectivity partners, working alongside commercial teams to secure deployments.
  • Maintain a comprehensive carrier inventory, documenting all customer connectivity options at each site.
  • Partner with Marketing on joint campaigns with connectivity partners, including events, press releases, case studies, and white papers.
  • Engage with hyperscalers and strategic customers to understand requirements and guide the evolution of the ecosystem.
  • Provide network intelligence and carrier presence insights to support new site acquisitions.

Commercial Support

  • Provide sales teams with specialist connectivity expertise throughout the sales cycle.
  • Support Relationship Managers during customer reviews and network discussions.
  • Drive deployment opportunities with connectivity partners, collaborating with the commercial team to close deals.
  • Deliver regular training sessions to commercial teams on available connectivity options.

Network Product Management

  • Collaborate with Product Management to design and evolve a portfolio of network products, including racks, cross-connects, and structured cabling.
  • Develop and promote network resale products for customers requiring colocation and connectivity together.
  • Document network routes, fiber entry points, and other infrastructure for customer and internal use.
  • Evaluate new network products and their integration into the ecosystem.

Process & Operational Excellence

  • Align connectivity processes across stakeholders and ensure consistency across the business.
  • Partner with site operations to uphold standards and compliance.
  • Support service operations in managing network products through the Service Desk.
  • Work with commercial leadership to align sales incentives with ecosystem objectives.

Skills & Experience

  • Established relationships with ISPs, Tier 1s, SDNs, and Internet Exchanges.
  • Proven track record in building connectivity ecosystems and driving business development.
  • Strong problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Effective collaboration with senior management, commercial teams, and customers.
  • Leadership experience with the ability to work independently.
  • Expertise in network product creation, design, implementation, and project management.

Key Competencies

  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking, colocation, fiber routes, and data centre integration.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to design customer-focused products and solutions.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a keen awareness of market trends and competitor activity.
