This is a unique opportunity to influence safety culture in a complex, high-profile environment where your expertise will directly contribute to the safe delivery of a nationally important project.\n\nRole Purpose\n\nAs Health & Safety Compliance Manager, you will be the go-to expert for all health, safety, and environmental matters across Digital IT contractor activities.
You’ll work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure compliance, minimise risk, and continuously improve safety performance.\n\nYou’ll have real influence—shaping policies, guiding leadership, and ensuring contractors operate to the highest standards.\n\nKey Objectives\n\nEnsure all Digital IT contractors comply with SZC policies and statutory requirements\nDevelop and maintain robust risk assessments and contractor risk registers\nLead audits, inspections, and incident investigations\nMonitor contractor performance and support continuous improvement initiatives\nSupport the IT Lead in meeting their legal health & safety responsibilities\nDeliver guidance, training, and support to contractors and internal teams\nCollaborate with SZC Health & Safety teams and key stakeholders across the project\nUnderstand and become proficient on internal digital systems\nReviewing and auditing contractor RAMS on a digital systemSite Based Responsibilities\n\nAttend site a minimum of three days per week to provide direct Health and Safety support\nParticipate in stakeholder meetings, contractor reviews and Health and Safety activities to understand delivery needs and challenges\nRepresent the Health and Safety function in contract reviews and monthly compliance meetings\n\nQualifications\n\nAbout You\n\nYou’re a proactive and confident Health & Safety professional who thrives in a dynamic environment. You’re comfortable influencing stakeholders at all levels and have a sharp eye for identifying and mitigating risk.\n\nYou bring:\n\nA collaborative, solutions-focused mindset\nStrong attention to detail\nThe ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team\nA genuine commitment to creating safer working environments Essential Skills\n\nNEBOSH qualification (or equivalent experience)\nStrong experience in health & safety compliance and management\nProven ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills\nStrong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively\nSkills in understanding and interpreting RAMS in a digital infrastructure environment\nGood knowledge and understanding of general CDM regulations, especially in respect of health and safety compliance.✔️ Desired Skills\n\nExperience within construction, infrastructure, and digital/IT environments\nKnowledge of working with contractors in complex project settings\nBachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management or a Related Field\n\nAdditional Information\n\n Why Apply?\n\nJoin Assystem and be part of the energy transition, working on one of the most significant nuclear projects in the world.
