Location: Berlin, Germany (project-based)
Salary: €75,000 – €90,000 + flights + accommodation + performance bonuses

Overview:
A leading data centre general contractor delivering large-scale hyperscale facilities across Europe is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager for a major new-build data centre project in Berlin, Germany. This role is essential to ensuring safe delivery of a fast-paced, highly technical construction programme involving significant M&E, complex logistics, and multiple trade contractors.
This is a site-based role with full rotation support including flights, accommodation, and additional bonuses.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all site Health & Safety functions on a large-scale data centre construction project.
- Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific H&S plans, procedures, and method statements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with local German regulations and company standards.
- Support construction and MEP teams in safe planning of high-risk activities, including lifting operations, electrical works, hot works, and commissioning.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions for direct staff and subcontractors.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformance, producing reports and implementing corrective actions.
- Manage subcontractor H&S performance, ensuring safe systems of work are in place and adhered to.
- Liaise with local authorities, client representatives, and internal leadership on all safety-related matters.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across the project.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven Health & Safety Manager experience on major construction or mission-critical / M&E-heavy projects (data centres, pharma, industrial, large commercial, energy).
- Strong working knowledge of European H&S regulations (German experience beneficial but not essential).
- Recognised H&S qualification (NEBOSH, equivalent European certification, or degree-level HSE qualification).
- Experience managing safety across large, multi-contractor sites.
- Strong communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
- Ability to work internationally on a rotational or project-based basis.
- Competency with incident management, reporting systems, and risk assessment tools.
