Role Overview

The Health, Safety & Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring that Aurora Utilities operates in full compliance with health and safety legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal policies. This role supports the safe delivery and compliant operation of electricity networks and associated infrastructure, with a strong focus on continuous improvement, risk mitigation, and regulatory alignment.

Key Responsibilities

1.\tHealth & Safety:

•\tMaintain the Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001)

•\tConduct site inspections, audits, and risk assessments across operational and SCADA controlled environments.

•\tInvestigating incidents and near-misses, producing reports and recommending corrective actions.

•\tEnsure the office working practices are safe and compliant with legislation; relevant risk assessment and health assessment processes are followed (DSE assessments etc)

•\tDeliver health and safety training and inductions for staff and where necessary, including contractors.

•\tAttend relevant Health and Safety meetings to ensure a culture of safety is high on the agenda.

•\tPromote a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organisation.

2.\tCompliance:

•\tMonitor and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including HSE regulations, 

•\tOfgem requirements, ESQCR, Electricity Act and environmental standards.

•\tMaintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes and advise the business on implications.

•\tCoordinate internal and external audits including ISO assessments.

•\tMaintain accurate records of compliance activities, certifications, and regulatory submissions.

•\tSupport the development and implementation of policies and procedures to meet legal and regulatory obligations.

3.\tBusiness Continuity & Risk:

•\tContribute to the Business Continuity Plan with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

•\tIdentify and assess operational risks, proposing mitigation strategies.

•\tLiaise with emergency services and regulatory bodies during incidents or planned exercises.

Qualifications & Experience

•\tNEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent health & safety qualification.

•\tExperience in regulatory compliance, ideally within the utilities or infrastructure sector.

•\tWorking knowledge of UK HSE legislation, Ofgem regulations, and ISO standards.

•\tMinimum 3 years’ experience in health and safety compliance role.

•\tExperience with DNO / IDNO regulated network operations is an advantage.

Salary

£62,000-£65,000 per annum
