Job Summary

The HR Operations Lead will own end-to-end HR operations, driving excellence in payroll, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, employee handbook maintenance, employee relations, and compliance. This role mentors the HR administrator for operational support while partnering closely with the recruiter and training specialist to align processes with talent acquisition and development. The ideal candidate is a hands-on expert who thrives on process optimization, compliance rigor, and fostering a positive employee experience.

Key Responsibilities

- Payroll and Benefits Oversight: Manage accurate, timely payroll processing in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Administer benefits programs—enrollment, vendor coordination, open enrollment, and employee inquiries.

- HR Processes and Systems: Design, implement, and streamline core workflows including onboarding, offboarding, leave administration, and performance management. Maintain and update the employee handbook and HR policies to reflect current laws and best practices.

- Employee Relations: Act as the primary resource for employee relations, conducting investigations, mediating conflicts, and providing policy guidance to ensure a fair, respectful workplace.

- Compliance Management: Ensure adherence to all employment laws (e.g., FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO) and internal policies. Lead audits, maintain documentation, and mitigate compliance risks.

- Team Mentorship and Collaboration: Mentor the HR administrator, offering guidance, feedback, and professional development to enhance operational support. Collaborate with the recruiter for seamless new-hire onboarding and with the training specialist to align operations with learning initiatives.

- HR Systems and Reporting: Oversee HRIS data integrity, functionality, and user access. Deliver HR metrics (e.g., turnover, compliance, payroll accuracy) to inform strategic decisions.

- Vendor and Budget Management: Manage relationships with payroll, benefits, and compliance vendors. Monitor HR operations budgets and drive cost-effective solutions.

- Continuous Improvement: Identify automation opportunities, streamline processes, and elevate the employee experience while staying ahead of HR regulations and trends.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR) .

- 5+ years of HR operations experience, with proven expertise in payroll, benefits, employee relations, and compliance.

- Proficiency with HRIS platforms (e.g., ADP, Workday) and advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis.

- In-depth knowledge of US employment laws and regulations.
