We’re looking for an experienced HVAC Engineer to join a specialist Life Sciences contract in Darlington. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a highly regulated, technically advanced environment, maintaining critical HVAC and building services systems that support scientific and research activities.
❄️ What you’ll be doing:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs on HVAC systems and associated plant
⚙️ Maintaining and optimising air handling units (AHUs), chillers, boilers, ventilation and cooling systems
️ Diagnosing faults and carrying out effective repairs to HVAC and building services systems
Managing maintenance tasks through CAFM systems and maintaining accurate records
Ensuring all work is completed in line with statutory compliance, health & safety and site requirements
Supporting system optimisation to improve plant efficiency, reliability and performance
Supervising and coordinating specialist subcontractors when required
Completing risk assessments and method statements for assigned tasks
Assisting with quotations for minor works and remedial repairs
Supporting contract KPIs and service level agreements
Participating in audits, toolbox talks and continuous improvement initiatives
Building strong working relationships with site stakeholders and representatives
What we’re looking for:
• Relevant qualification in HVAC, Refrigeration & Air Conditioning, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience within Facilities Management, Commercial, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Manufacturing, Data Centres or other critical environments
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems including AHUs, chillers, boilers and ventilation
• Proven experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance
• Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
• Good understanding of health & safety legislation and statutory compliance
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
⭐ Desirable:
✔️ F-Gas Certification
✔️ IOSH Managing Safely
✔️ Experience using CAFM systems
✔️ Knowledge of Building Management Systems (BMS)
✔️ Experience with complex HVAC controls and energy management systems
